  1. All of them look good, but I’m thinking I’ll have wine and maybe some gin and tonic — sounds boring, but when I like something I usually stick with it

  2. Hi Brenda. I'm so sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. I hope and pray that 2018 is a healthier year for you. I got on here right now to let you know that I'm assembling the ingredients for one of the appetizers you posted a couple of days ago. It's the one with the snowman shaped out of three graduated-sized bowls, surrounded by celery, carrots, etc. I actually found a set of three cute white graduated bowls in original packaging at a thrift store! My ingredients won't be exactly the same — I'm substituting Swiss cheese cubes for the cauliflower, for instance — but I think people will get a kick out of it at my family's gathering this afternoon. So thanks for the recipe idea that doesn't require me to turn on an oven or get out a mixer! Hope you can rest this weekend.

  3. Brenda, I just read the other posts and I'm so sorry you are ill. Girl, enough is enough! Gotta get you well for the long haul, not just a few weeks. Take care and rest. I'll be thinking about you and sending healing vibes.

And, by the way, even when I didn't know you were sick I didn't consider your post inappropriate, lazy, or "filler." I just assumed you needed a little break which you quite deserve. Just sayin'.

  4. They all look so beautiful and yummy! When the family comes to my house for Christmas they will all bring their favorite drinks. How's that for being lazy? I was thinking today, though, that maybe for a future Christmas gathering I would serve punch like my mom used to make with some kind of juice–cranberry, I think–and ginger ale and vanilla ice cream stirred in. Can that be right? I'll have to ask my sister. I know it had something foamy in it but not positive it was ice cream.

Thanks for all the drink suggestions! I'll file them for future.

Merry, Merry! To you and the pupsters!

  5. Oh I am so sorry, I had no idea you are sick. You take it easy and rest. It's just that I miss your beautiful writing about your yard, your house, the pups and your grandchild.

    1. I hadn't mentioned it. No worries! Tomorrow morning I have a long blog post about what's been going on.

  6. I'm going to step out on a limb here and make some people angry. I love your blog and read it daily. I enjoy your daily goings on. I'm not a fan of 10 drinks for Christmas or 10 hostess gifts. I can get those things from Facebook. I want to read about you. You inspire me by your beautiful writing please don't spoil your blog with filler.

    1. I'm not angry. Some have liked them. I am sick. I have trigeminal neuralgia on the left side of my face and asthmatic bronchitis. So I'm not up to snuff right now.

  7. Wow. They all look good! Merry Christmas, Brenda. Enjoy the holiday and my very best wishes to you for a wonderful 2018, my friend. xo Kim
