My nine day old flowers are starting to look a bit ragged and rough around the edges. But I try to squeeze all the life I can out of store bought flowers. I like to get my money’s worth.
First I had them in a bigger green pitcher and the bouquet was much fuller. I’ve had to throw away some of the blooms.
I took the flowers out and trimmed the stems some more. Which extends the life of them. Always cut on an angle.
Then I placed them in this smaller blue pitcher to enjoy for awhile longer.
My daughter, who lives in Oklahoma City now, had to come to Tulsa on business yesterday. She brought lunch over here so we could visit a bit. I miss her. She lived in Tulsa back when I first moved here.
She brought Mexican food. I don’t see her that often, so I sure enjoyed an hour or so to just catch up with her life.
I lit candles. I love to dine by candlelight. Candles always makes a meal feel more special, don’t you think?
My daughter shares my love of books. I had her reading at age four, and she’s loved books ever since.
We often read the same books. If she buys a book, she’ll read it and then give it to me. I do the same with books I get.
Reading is one of my very favorite pastimes. You can open a book and go anywhere in the world. For free! Through the characters within its pages.
One of my favorite hangouts as a kid was the small local library.
I always love to dine with a pitcher of fresh pretty flowers to gaze at. It’s even better if they have a wonderful fragrance. Candles and flowers and great company.
