Yesterday I heard a rustling sound and went to the patio doors to investigate. There were dozens of birds on the tree branches, a real influx of birds. I had never seen them here before.
I think they are waxwings.
Robins had settled in the other tree. There must have been some divisiveness. For they stayed separated.
At one point I saw one of these birds fly right into the window. I hope it wasn’t hurt. But it flew off, so I suppose it was okay.
I was just so surprised by the sheer number of these birds, perched on all the branches of the tree you see directly from the patio doors.
Look at that wing span! It looks like an accordion.
They would all fly away, and then moments later, all fly back.
Today they are gone. It is quiet and the branches are still.
It is no longer raining or snowing, which went on for four straight days. The snow has melted for the most part.
I miss the birds that came to visit me. I wonder if they’ve gone on wherever they were headed.
What birds are you seeing in your yard right now?
