Keven and Mandy Holesh share their 188 square foot camper with their four pets, Grizzly, Nimbus, Foxey and Luna. They’ve lived in this camper for two years.
Kevin is an app developer and Mandy is a wedding photographer.
Their home on wheels is a 16 year old Keystone Cougar fifth wheel they paid $5000 for, and renovated as cheaply as they could.
“At the time we were paying off our student loans, so we wanted to be as thrifty as possible while doing everything by ourselves! We love that we did all the work ourselves, it really makes us appreciate it more, even with all of the imperfections.”
Mandy says that the secret to keeping their home clean and sane is just having less stuff.
“We don’t have much clutter on a daily basis because we don’t have more than we need, and everything has a place. Also, we don’t have a lot of room in our camper for things, so buying random things doesn’t happen as much as it did when we had an apartment!”
(I noticed that the yellow shade they used to paint the kitchen cabinets is almost exactly the same shade of yellow that I used in my dining space for my coffee bar, little pantry, and my dining table. I love that shade of yellow. It’s such a happy color!)
(It’s nice that, even though they live in a camper, they can still gaze out the window when they’re washing dishes.)
(I like the black triangular shape they painted in the corner here. It positions the space and makes it seem separate from what is obviously the bedroom. Great idea!)
I hope you enjoyed this small home tour. It makes me smile that the ratio of pet to person is 2 to 1!
