If you’re wondering why I have a plastic pot saucer in my birdbath, it is due to two things: 1) I don’t want water to freeze, should I miss the weather report. Which might break the bird bath. And 2) I find it much easier to clean this plastic saucer.
It’s important to keep the bird bath clean, whatever you use.
I put a flat rock in the saucer so the birds can perch on it. Birds are reluctant to lean down into very deep water, so the rock makes it easier for them to hop around.
Look how fast this sedum has filled the galvanized container. This particular sedum seems to be very hardy, and is coming up in various pots.
That is “Jade” the tree behind the galvanized container. It has green nubs showing on the branches.
I can’t tell you how happy this makes me. I’m easily excited by anything growing in my garden anyway, but this tree was an investment for my patio. A tree is of course more expensive than a plant. So I’m really glad it made it through winter.
My hostas are showing up. I just love hostas. And most of them came from many of you. You were kind enough to send them to me when I moved here. So I feel like I have a bit of your gardens here with me. I thank you once again!
I’m keeping you up to date on what’s happening out here on the patio, probably more than you want to know. But gardening is a big part of my life. And this patio is my little piece of heaven.
I’m a bit surprised by what has come back this year from last year, because it was really cold.
Anything happening in your garden yet?
