Yesterday I had to go to a dermatologist to get a mole removed. On my way home I stopped at the furniture store where I bought my dining table and chairs. I ordered a sofa and a matching ottoman.
I really wanted to get a recliner and was going to order it through an Ashley store. But they were having difficulty getting it back in the warehouse. I didn’t want to wait around with others ahead of me waiting for it as well. So I cancelled that order and went to the other store I shop at.
I found a sofa and matching recliner, but it didn’t support my neck and that was the only sofa with the matching recliner. Also the only ones they had were on the showroom floor. As they had discontinued the line.
And I’m picky and didn’t want to buy something that wasn’t brand new. If I’m paying for brand new furniture, then I don’t want it to have been used on the showroom floor.
Eco Friendly Sofa:
I sat in many recliners. They had dozens. Problem is, if I liked the way the chair looked, it didn’t have neck support. I just do not like those puffy recliners and would not be happy with one.
This sofa I chose has a smaller footprint than the one in my apartment now. What I really like is that the upholstery is made of recycled plastic bottles and sacks like you bring your groceries home in. You can poke a finger through it and it shifts back together. Not that I plan on sticking a finger through it.
It is from a Lazyboy company called England Furniture Company. I like to be able to purchase eco-friendly merchandise. I think that we need to be fully cognizant of our environment and what we’re doing to it.
Below is the couch, but it is not the color I ordered that will arrive in about a month. The style is called Collegedale 6205.
My Plan changed:
Ivy’s white fur has become a bit of a problem on my dark brown sofa. So I’m going with an oatmeal/light colored sofa where her fur won’t show as much.
I never had to worry about this with the pupsters. Yorkies don’t shed.
I’m planning to work on my laptop on the table or desk now more so maybe that will help my neck.
I had one other concern about buying a recliner. One of you mentioned it to me I believe. The concern is that Ivy might get underneath the reclined recliner and get smushed. I don’t want to hurt Ivy Lou. Every time I started to get up I know I would worry if she was underneath.
There have been questions in posts the last few days that I wanted to answer.
One of you asked if the pineapple sage that Charlie chews when he has an upset tummy is a perennial. It isn’t here in my region. Perhaps somewhere like Florida you might be able to keep it growing all year.
Someone else mentioned that lantana is poisonous to dogs. Yes, I know that. That’s why I keep the plants up high where Charlie cannot get to them.
Someone else asked about the roots under the new French door. Nathan drilled down and poured something in there to kill them in case they weren’t already dead. It wasn’t a big root so there was no problem leveling the door.
He has gone around to all of the roots and done the same thing.
Another one of you said maybe I could turn my dining room table the other way, since the French door swings inward. But that won’t work. The dining space is narrow and the table would nearly hit the blue hutch.
The reason I don’t have the dining table in the middle of the room is because of the narrowness of the room with the hutch in it. I might consider moving the hutch and then I could move the table down.
Friday Frugal Tips Topic:
For Friday’s Frugal Tips lets go with freezer foods and bulk cooking. I admit I don’t do much of this. The only thing I cook and freeze in batches is taco soup. But I’ll be interested to see what suggestions the rest of you have and maybe I’ll try some of your ideas.
My freezer space is pretty small, so I can’t put a lot in there. However when I do cook, I don’t like to cook for just one meal.
See ya on Friday!
