Well, my accountant told me this morning that I should buy a house. Not that it would help me financially really. But it would ease the headaches I’m facing here.
This morning the district manager of these apartments and one other one and I talked. I asked her if she could promise me that I won’t have to move.
You see, the thick roots from the trees are going up my siding under my bedroom, through the cement. Also up through the step that goes to my patio. Which is why they’re having to replace the patio door. The roots are growing underneath the door.
I said if I sign a new lease and make improvements, I want to be assured that I won’t have to move. Which is what one family already had to do because a tree is growing up in the dining room. I kid you not. My lease is up in April.
She said I can’t promise that. That they’re just leaving that other apartment with the tree in it empty. It’s been empty about two years now I think. They don’t seem to want to fix the problem and rent it again.
This is liable to happen to many units here due to the trees. Are they just going to let them go bad and have this place condemned?
The siding in back is eaten up. They refuse to fix that or replace any of it. For all I know mold may be under it.
I asked my accountant that I’ve used ever since I moved to Tulsa what I should do. He is also a real estate broker and agent. He said he’d have one of his brokers call me about loans. And he introduced me to one of the women working there who is a real estate agent.
Everything in one spot. So I’m thinking about it. I told her I wanted something small if I buy. Not a bunch of steps due to my ankle. No one above me if it was a condo.
Rental homes are high here. At least they seem high to me. That little house I rented five years ago now rents for over a $1000 a month. I don’t want to pay that much.
I’ve been looking since last weekend because I’ve had such trouble getting them to fix this patio door. Who needs this kind of grief?
First I looked at rentals. Anything you’d even want to rent is $1500 a month and up unless it’s an apartment that is at least two levels.
Of course if I bought something, I’d be doing repairs. But I’ve been doing them anyway! I just paid Nathan $200 for cleaning my patio and getting rid of all the leaves and debris. He cut back all my plants that I haven’t dealt with due to my hands.
I don’t particularly want to move. But I’m very frustrated with this place. I’m just asking that they assure me that my apartment would be habitable. That if the roots come up, they will deal with them. And they won’t promise that.
I’ve been up since 4 a.m. due to pain. So I’m a little dicey today about any type of decision anyway.
So what do you think? Should I look for a cozy little house? I appreciate your thoughts very much. In fact I depend on them.
