This morning Charlie and I went outside and I took the opportunity to cut back the mint and lemon balm again. I have to do this every week or it gets out of bounds.
The lemon balm is coming up in every crack in the cement it seems. That’s okay by me. Insects typically do not like the scent of lemon.
I wish the guy who lives behind me would do some work on his patio. His weedy vines and that same old tree keep growing back up. I can clip them from my side, but I can’t do a thing about his side.
They tried once to kill that tree, but the foliage has once again grown a foot or so above the fence, so they need to drill into the stump and try again.
The other tree seems dead, so I guess the mission was accomplished on that one. It was the one hitting against my gutters.
I also trimmed the rose bush. I’m sure this is not the right time. But it was looking so awful that I decided I didn’t care. It seems to have survived all my pruning in the past.
It has grown at least a foot and perhaps two this year already.
I finally got my coffeemaker cleaned yesterday evening.
I always pour half white vinegar and half water in the carafe. I take the gold cone filter out and use just a paper filter when I do this.
Then I let the coffee fill up halfway and turn it off for 30 minutes. I then let the remainder go through and pour it out.
Fill the coffee carafe with water and let it brew again. And then once more. Just with water.
I took all the parts that will come off and cleaned them with Dawn in the kitchen sink.
I decided I wanted to use the red galvanized container in my bathroom on the counter. So I’m using this green basket here instead.
Recently I ordered a few of them from Amazon.com. I love the shade of green.
While I was at it I also added the fern painting back into the mix. I really like green. It’s such a tranquil color.
I don’t do a lot of changing things up like I used to.
When I was young I had all the energy in the world. And I still have a lot of energy. I just don’t have the body parts to carry it out.
So I concentrate on changing up smaller things. Vignettes and such. It satisfies my need to decorate and I’m not doing a complete overhaul of rooms.
I noticed after I took the above photo that two of Ivy’s toys are in it. One is the blue toy with the balls. And if you look a foot or so to the left, you will see one of the two curtain ties Ivy drags from room to room.
I think I saw the other curtain tie in the bedroom hanging off the side of the bed.
She doesn’t seem to really play with these curtain ties as much as she just drags them from room to room. Maybe it’s like a child with a security blanket.
I stay in on the 4th because I can’t handle the noise of fireworks. But I’ve been pondering maybe ordering barbecue that would last a few days for the occasion.
There is a place here called Oklahoma Joe’s and it has really good barbecue. I’ve purchased the meal for two before. But it lasts 3-4 days for me and the cost is $25.99.
With this meal you get brisket, pork, bologna, turkey sausage, hot links and ribs. A little of each. Then you choose 3 sides. They also add Texas toast, pickles, peppers and onions.
I think my daughter and Andrew are coming over for lunch after church tomorrow. So I had my last Shipt delivery from Target include some crayons for him.
I have colored pencils but he doesn’t much like to use those for some reason.
So his crayons will be here waiting for him if he decided he wants to color. He also likes to watch shows on Netflix geared to children.
I either fix lunch or my daughter stops on the way here and brings the food with her.
