I got the new curtains ironed and hung up. I really like them. It’s a lighter look than the green and beige ones I had before.
The curtains over the French doors are a bit too long. In my opinion anyway.
I never liked what probably every decorating blogger ascribes to, which is to hang curtains about a foot above the window and have them hang long.
I just don’t favor the look. I get what their purpose is: to try to make a window appear larger.
But it just looks funny to me. To each their own I suppose.
Here they are at the living room window.

Here they are over the French doors. The rod had to go a bit above the French doors about 4-6 inches because of the molding around the door. I didn’t have an option there.

There’s Ivy on the table staring at them as if she has an opinion on the new curtains.
And there’s one of my two air purifiers. They’re fairly big so they stick out like a sore thumb. But if they help Charlie breathe better, then I really don’t care how they look.
I tried yesterday to get decent photos of the curtains in the bedroom, but they came out really dark. And this morning it’s overcast and raining. I’ll get a photo of them when the lighting is better.
I took Charlie to see his regular vet Dr. Poteet yesterday afternoon and they did some laser massage therapy on his back as well as a blood profile. I’ll tell you about that later.
Right now we have to get moving to be on time for Charlie’s acupuncture appointment.

Your curtains are fabulous! They look really sharp on your windows. Of course red is my favorite color. We have about 5 inches of snow on the ground this morning and more coming down. Be glad you have rain!

“…5 inches of snow on the ground” – Ugh – I do not look forward to those days – We don’t always get snow here in this part of NC, but it could happen. barb

beautiful. you have a great eye for tying it all together. nothing jars. it’s all very fresh and still cozy. I love it.
I hope Charlie isn’t allergic to cats. I know his heart trouble is probably the main culprit in his coughing because of my own congestive heart failure. but if he were allergic to little Ivy… they might consider treating him for that. surely there must be something they could give him that would help if that’s the case. I wish all three of you well. you’re a brave and loving family! XO

He has congestive heart failure. I don’t think he’s allergic to Ivy. When he was little for the first 5 years he lived with cats.

wow..I love the way the new curtains look…especially with the blind you have hanging, too. I think the patio door looks great, too..and I always want everything closed up at night…therefore not to worry anyone I cannot see staring in.. ;0) …Great job. I hope Charlie and you have a great day, and we all know Ivy has a great one every day…lol Cheers!

Love the new curtains. I like how you can put together a lot of different colors and it ends up being “cozy”.

Snowing here in SE Wisconsin and deep freeze weather is on the way for the next several days, evidently. Sigh. Love how the new curtains look up on the windows. I don’t think they are too long on the patio doors. You wouldn’t want to see the bottom of the doors peeking out beneath the hem of the curtains, they would look like high-water pants or that they’d shrunk in the laundry. I hope Charlie gets relief from his acupuncture treatment.

Love them Brenda. They look great. They finish the doors nicely. Little Ivy is your decor assistant and just wanted to make sure is was all looking good. Have a great day.

They look amazing, Brenda – just gorgeous, and oh so cozy!!! They kind of remind me of the curtains I have in my living and dining rooms – also a red floral on an off white/beige background. Love, love, love – they look fabulous!! Hoping little Charlie got some relief….xo

Curtains certainly do make the rooms look cozy for Your Cozy Little House – You have quite a flair for decorating – I like Your three “table” organization going on there next to Your chair. I do the same thing – Everything has a place, a place for everything. I, too, like the way Your curtains go sooo well with Your blind – Are they rattan or plastic? Hard to keep clean? Those would go so well in my bedroom – I wanted Ivy drapes (I have two ivy pillow covers and an ivy lampshade, so I thought Ivy drapes/curtains would go great) but when I went looking online all I could find were op-art ivy designs. Guess I’ll keep looking. Thank You for a place to come and look at a cozy place where someone likes plants, and books, and looking out the window!!!! Hey to Mr Charlie (hope some relief comes about) and Miss Ivy. barb
Brenda says
I guess they’re rattan. They don’t feel like plastic. About whether they’re hard to keep clean, I hate to admit this, but I’ve never cleaned them. I don’t see dust on them, but maybe my eyesight is a bit selective!

Nonetheless, the curtains look very pretty with color of blinds. Thanks for answering. I sometimes wonder if some blogs are run by robots. Have, please, a very restful evening. 🙂 barb

I know many bloggers hire out a lot of their work. Like hiring someone to do their social media, some posting, etc. Maybe they even hire out the commenting? I don’t know.

I love the new curtains. You are going to be so cozy this weekend. I was 70 degrees here and sunny today, but much colder weather will be heading our way next week. xo Laura

The new curtains are nice, Brenda. They pick up the other red accents you’ve decorated with. Nice to have something different to look at isn’t it? I always go for a plain, not patterned, curtain for my rooms, but the ones you put up look nice, even though your rooms are small. I’ll have to think about that when I get new curtains for my teeny-tiny dining area.j
Brenda says
I looked at solid colored curtains. But none of them appealed to me.
Melanie Riley says
Love the new curtains! I’m one who does indeed like hanging the curtains higher than the window…with low ceilings, I like how the height of the curtains draws the eye higher. But hey, everyone’s different!
Brenda says
Different strokes for different folks I guess. I’m just a bit compulsively anal about things. I can’t stand if something isn’t straight, for instance. I want things to fit just so.

Curtains look lovely!!

Pretty curtains! And the tip for cleaning the coffee carafe was timely – mine needed it. Hope you are getting a little sleep.
Carolyn says
Your curtains are lovely! I hang my curtain rods near the ceiling and a bit further outside the window frame to make the windows and door openings appear larger .. I’ve also found it lets in more light that way. I love your curtain choice!
Joyce says
The curtains look great Brenda! Love the way you decorate and all your plants, you must have a green thumb.
