Well, what a difference a day makes, as the old saying goes. Especially when you’ve had a good night’s sleep.
A good night’s sleep is everything. It is the difference between a crappy day and a good day.
I slept well last night. Charlie always needs to go out during the night. But I typically go to bed before 10 p.m. to get enough sleep to account for that.
What A Good Night’s Sleep Means For Me:
For me a good night’s sleep is 9-10 hours. Eight hours is cutting it close for me. My body seems to need more.
Everyone is different. I am always amazed when people say they can get by with 4 hours sleep.
I closed the curtains yesterday afternoon, reclined my chair all the way and curled up with a soft throw. Then I closed my eyes and tried to sleep.
It is never successful, my napping during the day. But I rest my eyes for a bit anyway.
My younger daughter loves to nap in the afternoon if she gets the chance. It doesn’t seem to be a problem for her. She is like her dad that way.
My brain and body cannot adjust to slumber when it’s light outside for some reason.
Ponytail Palm Oddity On It’s Base:
Have you ever seen a ponytail palm sprout green in the base of the plant? I wonder if it’s going to shoot out a whole different plant there at that spot?
I’ve had these plants off and on and never seen one do this. It shall be interesting to watch.
Gripper Socks For Charlie:
Yesterday when I picked up Charlie from his acupuncture appointment I talked to the vet about the gripper socks I ordered for him. I took them with me.
She said getting a larger pair won’t make any difference. That that’s just the problem with these socks.
When they stay up they’re great. But they tend to slide down pretty quickly. And that makes it harder for him to walk instead of easier.
More Episodes Of Line Of Duty:
Last night I watched 2 episodes of “Line Of Duty” on Acorn TV. I am really enjoying that show.
Aren’t the new curtains pretty behind the Christmas tree? I think they look nice with the red ornaments mixed in with the white, gold, and silver.
Brenda,
You might want to try this bootie for Charlie. They are like little balloons, since they are stretchy and rubbery they might fit better. Dale

I used toe grips for my dog. The really helped on hardwood floors and his rarely fell off.

Hi Brenda, I found on Acorn when you push pause I have to press the enter button right after, seems to be the only app I have that pauses that way. I don’t have Roku but I think the Acorn app would work that way on all tv’s, hope that works for you. This is the first time I have commented, but I can say I have followed you from way back and have really enjoyed your journey through life. Take care, Sheila
Brenda –
Have you heard of these?

I bookmarked them in Pinterest for my own pups but haven’t tried them yet.
You decorations are just lovely!

I do know how to spell “red.”
I also need nine to ten hours of sleep a night. I just don’t function well on just eight or less. I sometimes have trouble getting to sleep when I go to bed and am awake ’til three or four oclock. Then I have to sleep in until ten or eleven am. I hate that because I feel like I’ve lost half my day. Which I have. Especially when it’s getting dark so early now.
The first photo of Charlie is so sweet. He looks so bright-eyed and cute with that little pink tongue hanging out. Sorry his socks aren’t working out as well as you’d hoped. I think the suggestion to wrap some velcro around his ankles might keep them in place. At least they keep his little feet warm.
The new drapes look so pretty next to the Christmas tree with its read and gold and silver ornaments. Just the right touch.
Glad you got more sleep last night and hopefully tonight, too. Makes a world of difference to one’s attitude that’s for sure.
I had to laugh yesterday when a commenter mentioned putting the second pair of socks on Ivy. And you worried about getting her in the carrier….. Your apartment looks lovely!
I have a hard time getting to sleep through the night also. I seem to get a good night’s sleep when I eat a banana in the evening. Lately no bananas and have had a horrible time.

I need at least seven hours of sleep or I feel cranky. I have a hard time napping, but if I am really exhausted I can usually doze off for awhile. My Roku pause button is the same as Arli’s. xo Laura
I really like the barn pic – I believe one of Your pics had the other side of the barn and it just reminded me so much of the big barn we had on our dairy farm when I was growing up – Where did You get the pic from? I found the metal house You told about and it will fit perfect at the middle-back on my desk with the plants. As far as sleep, I can easily go 4-5 hours sleep, but if I do that too many times I will wake up to my alarm, shut it off, and go back to sleep (I do not like to sleep late.) 🙂 It does look like a new plant or offshoot on Your ponytail plant – Congratulations! I walk on pins and needles with the few I have (tropicals) and a geranium that is on its 2nd or 3rd winter (I am amazed!) Charlie is so cute – His eyes are so bright and shiny. 🙂 b
Are you referring to the paintings? Got them at Wayfair. I have one old barn photograph framed that I took myself in Texas. It’s behind my chair in the living room.
Glad you got a good night’s sleep. I can’t nap during the day either. Sometimes if I’m overtired, I will rest on the couch in the afternoon, but I rarely fall asleep.
I can’t imagine sleeping 9-10 hours at night. Haven’t done that since I was a teenager, lol. I average 7-8 hours and that’s broken by having to get up and go to the bathroom, or just restlessness/anxiety. I haven’t slept through the night in over 30 years.
I don’t think I’ve ever slept through the night. I do get up every few hours to go to the bathroom too.
i used this socks for my old
girl Ella. Same problem but they did help her get up. Your new drapes look fabulous. I also sue a magnesium spray on the bottom of my feet if I wake up in the middle of the night. Puts me right back to sleep. I am glad you slept well.
Hi Brenda,
Maybe the idea of velcro like someone suggested would work for the socks on Charlie. I love your drapes as a background for your pretty tree.
Kris
My Roku remote control has 2 lines of buttons under the big circle selector. The middle button on the bottom row has a right facing arrow with 2 parallel lines on it. Push that to pause your program. Hope this helps.
A good night’s sleep makes a world of difference….wow I wish I could sleep 9 hours! I wear a fitbit to bed to track my sleep, and it’s better than it used to be….at one point I was averaging 3 hours a night, and it was awful. Now I’m up to about 5 1/2 as an average….between the melatonin, magnesium, and my calm app – all my little sleep helpers! I really should go to bed earlier, but by the time I get home from work, make dinner, clean up….it’s usually around 8 pm. I like to chill out and watch TV for a little while, then it’s time for the whole bedtime routine….load the fire, let the pups out and put them to bed, do the whole face routine and brush teeth, etc….it’s an hour easily before I’m in bed. So I’m in bed from 11 – 7 usually, but only sleeping for a portion of that time. Sigh.
Hi Brenda, I was wondering, what if you doubled up on the socks on Charlie’s feet? I wonder if that would keep them on better. As long as they aren’t tight and mush his feet? Enjoy your day.
Have you tried a Velcro strip around the top of Charlie’s gripper socks?
Your curtains are so pretty there next to the tree! Homey, comfortable and cozy for your family of three. Very blessed!
