Yesterday was one of those days that in hindsight I wish I’d just stayed in bed. First I went to pick up a new modem and then go grocery shopping.
Eating healthy is expensive. I bought a lot of fresh veggies and fruits, determined to eat better.
I love mushrooms so am planning on stirring up a mushroom and onion mix in the electric skillet and layering the mixture on bread with a bit of cheese on top.
I also bought a rotisserie chicken, which I almost never do. I plan to make chicken tacos and add greens and tomatoes.
Got the fixings for s’mores for when Marley comes over.
Riley is a teenager and driving now so he probably won’t be all that interested in hanging out with grandma. But Marley is still at that age when being around grandma isn’t immediate cause for embarrassment.
She’s doing so well on her blog I created for her.
She’s posted photos of things I talked about last Friday afternoon, like paying attention to texture and various thing in nature. That child is a quick study. Every photo she’s taken has had some element of everything I taught her about photography so far!
She writes about her dogs and tells a story much like I do. Her mother said that she’s always kept a journal, so a blog shouldn’t be much of a stretch. The only difference is taking photos.
Apparently yesterday when they were leaving for school, Marley announced that they needed to swing by Starbucks. She said she’d placed an order on an app and paid for it and she told her mother it should be ready when they get there. Seems her dad puts money on a card for her. Eleven going on 30 perhaps?
My oldest daughter said she didn’t even know about an app for Starbucks. Well naturally I didn’t either.
Okay, back to my day yesterday. So then I get home with the groceries and as I’m walking to the kitchen with the sacks of groceries I see something brown on my bed out of the corner of my eye.
So I put the groceries on the counter and started down the hall, thinking oh, no, oh no, oh no. Charlie had been sick while I was gone and there was diarrhea on my bed. That has never happened.
So I get that cleaned up and the blanket in the washer with food still sitting on the counter.
Dr. Poteet doesn’t come in on Thursdays until 1 p.m. and I still had the modem I’d picked up before I got groceries to deal with. Why do they tell you it will be simple to take one modem out and put another in and then it turns into a nightmare?
Well it did and now I don’t have a phone because it’s bundled into that service. I have an appointment this afternoon with Cox.
I was already on edge because I was worried about Charlie. I planned to take him in to see Dr. Poteet even though I didn’t have an appointment. Appointments there are typically set two weeks in advance. So sometimes you just have to go and sit for hours and be worked in.
He said Charlie had a slight temperature, but nothing else seemed wrong. His heart sounded fine. He gave him a shot to settle his stomach and some medicine for me to give him. I’d already been giving him one diarrhea medication for nearly a week.
Guess it’s maybe gastritis. Charlie has always had a lot of tummy upsets that sometimes turns into pancreatitis. Which is what I always fear.
We didn’t get home until 4 p.m. and I still had to run to Trader Joe’s for a few things.
On days like that, when so many unexpected things crop up, my brain gets overloaded. And my mind, much like a stubborn mule stopped in its tracks, just kind of shuts down thought processes and won’t work correctly.
I try to think through things and my mind has gotten stuck in one gear and won’t shift into the next one.
Well, Charlie obviously can’t tolerate the pasty type medication I was told to squirt in his mouth because as soon as he eats he throws up. He just threw up his breakfast.
I wish I’d stayed in bed.
