This morning I shifted a few things around with one of my last vignettes and now it reminds me of springtime and Easter.
I removed a few things and added others.
I removed the shutters and added this Easter print that I bought at my local grocery store last year. Then I removed the green bottles and ceramic boho figurines.
I added the little lambs that remind me of Easter somehow.
I stayed with the green color theme and left the Buddha and salt lamp just as it was last week.
When you’re creating a vignette for a holiday or certain theme you might only have to alter a few things from what you already have out. Or you can start from scratch.
I love my green Buddha, so I just changed things in the middle really and left the plant and Buddha at each end.
A feeling of serenity washes over me when I look at the Buddha. I suppose I have placed my fears about what’s going on at the feet of this Buddha. A meditative process that serves me well after I’ve read some disturbing news online.
Sometimes it helps ground us to choose something to focus on when we’re feeling stressed from all the scary stuff going on. It could be a plant or a painting or whatever you choose.
Make it a practice to gaze at whatever you’ve chosen and tell your body to relax. Breathe deeply in and out until you feel the tension leave your body.
As we’re sheltering at home we must find ways to not only entertain ourselves, but calm our fears and settle into what could possibly be a long period of staying home.
It doesn’t affect me all that much, staying home, because I pretty much did it anyway. I have created my home to be my sanctuary.
I have things like groceries delivered that I need. But otherwise I have my wonderful patio to enjoy and an apartment that I have decorated just for me.
Charlie and Ivy complete the picture. We are safe and secure in a home that I have meticulously honed over the 6 years I’ve lived here.
I may have the back of a strip mall to the side of me and it isn’t in the least bit pretty. But you have to accept what you cannot change and work around it instead of fret over it.
This is the perfect time to shop your own home and create a dwelling that you absolutely love. At times like this, you will thank yourself for your endeavors.
Order seeds and plant that garden you’ve been thinking about. Short of that, plant a container of aromatic herbs to enhance food.
We all get a bit stir crazy, so you might as well work on your surroundings. There is plenty of inspiration online to get you going.
