A couple of nights ago there was a big storm. It knocked a big tree onto Kendra’s garage.
And it uprooted my smaller tomato plant that hasn’t really yielded much yet.
I had my 7 foot tomato plant up against my apartment next to my potting bench.
The storm knocked the big plant completely off the rolling plant caddy. I woke up and found the plant turned over. But the tomato plant and soil were still mostly contained in the pot.
Getting To Work In The Garden:
So I stood it back up and decided it was finally time to cut that big boy down by about half. Yesterday I got a big lawn bag and went to town on that.
I’ll have to get my tall grandson over here to put the pot back on the rolling caddy.
Then I cut back some of the tall zinnias that had fallen over.
I still have work to do out there before I can plant my zinnia seeds. I am still debating just where to plant them.
The Clematis Vine:
The clematis has grown back up the trellis after dying back in the summer heat. If it gets really hot it will turn brown and die back again. So I’m hoping for cooler weather.
Probably not on the menu in August. But one can hope.
I keep thinking I will someday get a deep purple clematis, but so far I haven’t done it. They’re pretty pricey.
I saw the hummingbird again yesterday. But by the time I got my camera it was gone.
I’ve only managed to get one photo of a hummingbird I think in all the years I’ve been blogging.
And the birds are scarce this year. They come to the bird bath but I haven’t managed to be in the dining room to get a photo of one yet.
However there is lots of action on the patio in terms of butterflies and wasps and bees. I can sit here in my chair and see flying insects through the panes of the French doors.
I just love that view.
