What I’m Now Reading & Watching + Eggplant Cutlets
I finished reading “Dark Vanessa” and last night I started reading “The Best Of Friends” by Lucinda Berry. The author is a former clinical psychologist and leading researcher in childhood trauma.
Now she’s a full time writer. I didn’t want to put this book down last night.
Book Summary:
Best friends Lindsey, Kendra, and Dani endure every parent’s nightmare when a tragic accident befalls their teenage boys. It leaves one dead, another in a coma, and a third too traumatized to speak.
Reeling from the worst night of their lives, the three mothers plunge into a desperate investigation of the bizarre incident. How could something so horrible happen in their wealthy Southern California suburb?
They soon discover that the accident was just the beginning, and troubling discoveries lead to chilling questions. Do they really know their children? Do they even know each other?
As more secrets surface, a fog of doubt and suspicion threatens to poison their families, their friendships, and the whole community.
Dark Heart:
I’m currently watching “Dark Heart” on BritBox.
“Dark Heart” is a British television crime drama series. It is based on the Will Wagstaffe novels by writer Adam Creed.
The series stars Tom Riley as DI Will Wagstaffe. Wagstaffe is a police detective haunted by the unsolved double murder of his parents when he was sixteen.
Frozen Eggplant Cutlets:
Last night for supper I tried these eggplant cutlets. They were delicious.
I had cornbread, which Ivy begged for and of course got. And I also had beans and potatoes. I love veggie meals.
This company makes other frozen foods. I want to try the veggie meatballs and veggie fries.
So easy to pop these in my toaster oven and they’re done so fast. I love easy meals!
Joysed, I ordered Eggplant Parmesan from Walmart and the brand is Michael Angelo’s. Walmart didn’t have the brand Brenda mentioned in her post. Picture on the box looks almost like what she posted.
Hi Brenda – Trader Joe’s also has their own brand of eggplant cutlets, just an FYI for those fans of TJs.
Mary
I know you like quick, easy meals and I don’t blame you, but be careful with any kind of already-prepared foods, even frozen ones. There’s some decent ones out there that have mostly “clean” ingredients, but they’re usually loaded with sodium. The brand of this eggplant cutlets is made with soybean oil, which is one of the unhealthiest things you could ingest. I won’t go into the particulars here – you can google it.
I’ve picked up three fiction books lately and just couldn’t get into any of them. So now I’m back to non-fiction.
As for TV, you know I don’t watch it much, but we just started watching Schitts Creek. We’re only on episode 3, so we’ll see how it goes. We watched the first episode when it first came out and weren’t hooked, but we’re giving it one more try and a few more episodes.
That books sounds very interesting and compelling. Enjoy every page!
I, too, would love another frugal post from you. I’ve read your blog for a variety of reasons i.e. the furbabies, decorating tips and how much you enjoy your home.
I second Kelly’s comment. I sometimes have a hard time deciding what to have for supper and end up with toast and tea or bowl of cereal. That eggplant looked so good that I ordered it on my Walmart pick up order. Thanks for the good suggestions for the rest of the meal. I love beans and eat a lot of them instead of meat.
I was going to ask Brenda where she got the Eggplant cutlets but you mentioned you bought them from Walmart. I’ll have my daughter to look and see if they have them in the Walmart near me!
If you go to this website and put your city in, it will tell you where you can buy their products…http://www.dominexeggplant.com/wheretobuy.html
Thank you Brenda, I checked all of WV and no results. The nearest store to buy was in PA, so apparently they’re not available yet in WV. That is not surprising, I cannot get a lot of things in WV!
My husband and I lived for a year in Parkersburg WV while he worked in Marietta OH but now we are back in KY. We thought the people in WV were even friendlier than Kentuckians, if that is possible, and WV is soooo beautiful! But we had to go to the Kroger in Belpre Ohio, across the river from Parkersburg, to find a big variety in groceries. It was a great discovery for us. If you are ever near the Parkersburg area you might want to take some coolers and head across the river to Belpre Kroger!
The egg plant cutlets sound good! I know you’ve done these types of posts before, but would you consider doing another frugal post soon? You know the kind where you talk about what you’re eating and doing to be frugal. To be honest, your blog to me is the best blog regarding frugality and simple living even though you don’t necessarily categorize everything that way. It’s just the way you live. So many bloggers strive to prove their points and you just, well you just “are”. Love it!
what you said Kelly, that would be great
