Wednesday Wish List: Favorite Cottage Decor

When I first started writing Cozy Little House in April of 2009, the decor bloggers were mostly focused on cottage decor. If you think back, that’s when so many bloggers named their blogs “something Cottage.”

Cottage came just before farmhouse took over. And sort of blended in. As styles often do.

I have mixed cottage with farmhouse with boho, but I still have a special place in my heart for just cottage decor. So below are some of my favorite choices.

***

Now this is what I consider a cottage-style lamp.

Cottage-Style Lamp:

Isn’t it pretty? A tad feminine. Has character. Good lines. A bit shabby.

It’s the Helene Coastal Country Cottage lamp. And it’s under $100.

Striped Accent Chair:

This is the Dorel Living Jaya Accent chair in a beige stripe. But it comes in other colors such as green and blue and black striped.

Cottage style emphasizes cozy living in my opinion. And this looks to be a comfy chair to curl up in and read a good book with a cup of coffee or tea.

I especially like the nail head trim at the bottom.

And now for a coffee table.

Upholstered Ottoman Cocktail Table:

This is the Signature Design Realyn Upholstered Ottoman Cocktail Table by Ashley. It could go either way in terms of style: cottage or farmhouse. Or as I wrote above, the styles mixed together.

It has a feminine look with the curvy legs and detailing. You’d have extra seating as well as a surface for trays or books or whatever you like on your coffee table.

And below is another chair I consider to be in the cottage style.

Checked Club Chair:

This is from Christopher Knight Home. It is the Evete Tufted Club Chair. And it’s under $300.

Cottage style and checks/plaid just seem to go perfectly together.

Once again, nail head trim makes the chair look glitzy. And aren’t those black legs unexpected and stunning?

Accent Table:

I love this side table. And it would look fantastic paired with the coffee table above.

This is also by Ashley’s Signature Design. It is the Mirimyn End Cottage Style Accent Table.

It also has feminine curves and a bit of distressing to give it more character. I would definitely purchase this for my home.

Furniture Protector For Loveseats:

And here we have a furniture protector. Unfortunately the gorgeous settee is not for sale. Or at least it isn’t for sale on this page.

I just happened to come across it and thought it was pretty enough to add to this post.

This is the Patchwork Scalloped Printed Furniture Protector. It is stain resistant for all you pet mamas out there. It’s for a 54 inch loveseat. And it’s under $30.

As you can see it comes in various color combos.

But heavens, why don’t they have this in regular couch size? I don’t have a loveseat.

Credenza:

I love this credenza. It is the Adept Storage Credenza by Sauder. The natural top pairs well with the neutral shelves.

You could tuck baskets or books or any decor items into this cute shelf. Selected sea shells if you live near the sea.

Any small collection could be beautifully displayed here.

Recliner:

And here’s a recliner that actually doesn’t look much like a recliner. Sweet.

This is the GDF Studio Elizabeth Tufted Fabric Recliner in a somewhat vintage beige color.

You could place this in a room and no one would know it was a recliner unless you stretched out on it. And I for one have come to the age where a recliner helps immensely with my aches and pains.

Mom might like this recliner for Mother’s Day which is quickly coming up.

If you love furniture and decor that evokes cozy style, I think cottage style is what you’re looking for.

Or cottage mixed with farmhouse mixed with boho. Which does in fact blend nicely.

  2. Brenda, I was about 5 days behind because I’ve been working on my yard, so catching up this morning was like I hit the jackpot. Just love all your posts. I wanted to mention the numbness you’re having in your leg. There were many comments and since no one really knows the cause of your condition, I’m going to mention my thought on this. I was having numbness and tingling on the outside of my thigh that went on for quite a while and during this time I read an article on magnesium deficiency and it seems this can cause nerve issues as well as many more symptoms. Since I started taking a supplement, the numbness has stopped and not returned and I just feel better overall, more energy, higher spirits. The article said that nearly all adults are insufficient in magnesium so it might be worth a try. So now you have my two cents for what it’s worth.

  3. Brenda – this is a quilted furniture protector for a couch/sofa. I scrolled down on the page and found they had one for the loveseat, as you showed; one for the couch/sofa and one for a chair.

  4. I have similar lamps in my living room and love them. Everything you’ve shown is right up my alley but I need color. Cooper and I would have those lovely lighter colors soiled in no time. LOL Love the end table and that credenza would be perfect in my entry way. Sadly, it needs to be assembled and that wouldn’t work for me. 🙁

  5. Recliners are great for taking naps. There are so many cleverly designed ones available now that aren’t clunky or overstuffed big man-size. The range of styles has improved, too.

  6. I really like the cottage farmhouse look! I have a log home so the farmhouse look is what I go for! I really like the lamp and the recliner and the blue stripe chair! I agree with you about the furniture protector, they should have that for a couch! JoyceD
