Purple Clematis, What I’m Watching & What I’m Reading
The sun has finally just come out. I’ve been waiting for days for the first purple clematis bloom.
Maybe if the sun stays out long enough it will fully open.
I’m hoping later today to see it fully show its pretty face.
Ivy is laying on the cupboard, a sentry to keep watch over those birds in the bushes.
She’s so funny. She goes from the front to the French doors where she watches for birds.
What I’m Watching:
I recently began watching “Handmaid’s Tale” on Hulu.
What a scary concept. A woman not being able to own property or money.
Spirited away from her family and forced to become a human incubator. Just pin them down and rape them and force them to have babies they won’t get to keep. Awful.
What I’m Reading:
Yesterday I synced all my Kindle books onto my iPad. I’m getting ready to read Luanne Rice’s “The Shadow Box.”
I haven’t read a Luanne Rice book in a long time. But always enjoyed her books.
Summary:
After artist Claire Beaudry Chase is attacked and left for dead in her home on the Connecticut coast, she doesn’t know who she can trust. But her well-connected husband, Griffin―who is running for governor―is her prime suspect.
Just before the attack, Claire was preparing for an exhibit of her shadow boxes, one of which clearly accuses Griffin of a violent crime committed twenty-five years ago. If the public were to find out who her husband is, his political career would be over. Claire’s certain her husband and his powerful supporters would kill her to stop the truth from getting out.
When one of Claire’s acquaintances is murdered, the authorities suspect the homicide is linked to the attack on Claire. As the dual investigations unfold, Claire must decide how much she’s willing to lose to take down her husband and the corrupt group of elites who will do anything to protect Griffin’s interests and their own.
I just finished reading the Shadow Box by Luanne Rice and loved it!! Sure made me want to read some of her other books. I hope it kept you as interested in it as it did me. The book showed me what money and power covers up.
Enjoy your day, Brenda!
That TV series is the reason in a nutshell why I watch very little TV. It would completely creep me out. Ugh. Each to their own.
I agree I could not watch something like that. Just awful not entertaing at all.
I am also watching the 2nd season of the Handmaid’s Tale. It is scary, especially if you think this could really happen. This season was mostly shot in the city I live in so am watching out to see if I recognize anywhere.
Love the mauve clematis, Ours has just started to regrow, the flowers won’t show for at least another month. I am never really sure if I should cut it right down in the winter or leave it. I cut it down last year and only had flowers at the top.
