  3. What an adorable kitten! I just love that sweet little face of hers. Give Ivy a few days and she will adjust. Just keep up Ivy’s normal routine and her play time so she doesn’t feel slighted. The name you gave her is beautiful too! Congratulations on your new family member.

  7. What a surprise to come on your blog and see you got another kitty! Gracie is so cute. It’ll take her awhile to be comfortable enough to come out and explore. It’ll be fun to see how she and Ivy interact with each other once she gets used to her new surroundings.

    1. Saturday and Sunday Ivy acted as though the kitten coming out would be her fondest dream. Then when Gracie timidly walked toward the bedroom last night, where we were, Ivy decided to growl and scare her away.

  8. What a beautifully marked and colored little kitten! And those gorgeous blue eyes. She’s just lovely. I’ll be interested to know how she and Ivy acclimate to each other and sharing your attention. I’m sure they will adapt well. I know you’ll keep us posted.

Congratulations on becoming a kitty mom again!

  9. She’s a pretty girl and although she may not know it yet…she’s lucky to have found a home with Brenda and Ivy. Let the games begin!

  10. Oh congratulations!! How sweet and how fun to have a new baby in the house. So exciting for both you and Ivy. We did the same when we brought our second into the house. We let him get comfy and find us when he was ready. It was sooner than we expected!

  11. Good move Brenda! Never too much love from fur babies. I’m sure she will realize she hit the jackpot and come out real soon! LOL Enjoy

  12. Congrats on your kitty! I have two Siamese rescues. You’ll find they are very dog-like once settled in. Siamese eyes are mesmerizing. Enjoy!!!

  13. My brother had a rescue dog that did that. The dog did not move out from under a table for an entire week. She stays in his lap all the time now. He had had another dog for a year. The new dog was the alpha even though the other dog shared her bed and water bowl with her. She is very protective of my brother and barks when one touches him or comes in the room. What will you name your new cat? The adventures begin. Will Ivy share her toys and tree?

    1. There is another cat tree in the bedroom that Ivy never liked from the same company. I ordered everything new for the kitten. New lidded litter box, new toys, new cat bed, new food and water bowl.

  14. I love your new kitty–those incredible blue eyes and striped tail! She will make friends with you and Ivy when she is ready. I am so happy for you! Now, what is her name going to be?
Congratulations on your new fur baby!

  15. what a wonderful new tiny addition to your family! Gracie Mae is just beautiful!
and it will all turn out grand. you deserve to be happy! Both you and Ivy. 😀 xoxo

  16. Brenda,
I am so happy for you and your growing cat family. You have a wonderful heart and soul. Adopting rescue animals is such an act of kindness and love. Last year at the beginning of the Covid crisis, my husband and I adopted a French Brittany spaniel who was born with a spinal birth defect. The breeder couldn’t sell her and didn’t want to put her down, so he put out an SOS to other Brittany owners. We ended up adopting her and it was the most challenging and wonderful decision we have ever made! She will be 2 yrs. old Jan. 20th. Enjoy your new kitten, she will bring Ivy and yourself such joy.

    1. I wish I could have more than two pets. Another organization wanted me, after I already took Gracie, to take a little gray and white kitten someone tossed out of a car. It is healed now and 6 months old. But it is not good at those events they take them to because it doesn’t like the noise, and thus hasn’t been adopted. My heart just breaks for her!

  17. So cute! At least Ivy isn’t hissing at her. Maybe they will be buddies. Soon they will be chasing each other around.

    1. No, I think Ivy just wants a friend. She couldn’t ever get Charlie to relate to her. He was just too old.

  18. I put down my 18 year old cat this month. I got her and litter mate 18 years ago. I lost him 1 1/2 years ago. I miss them so much but I don’t think I can go thru losing anymore. Am 75 and it doesn’t get any easier. Maybe in time I will change my mind. Enjoy your new kitten as I am sure Ivy will enjoy the company. Always enjoy your daily postings as I also live alone.

    1. I didn’t think I could do it after Charlie. But then, I think he’d want me to bring another little rescue into my home. In his honor.

      1. I think you are exactly right in this, Brenda ~ he, of all, knew what a good Mom you were!o

  19. Congratulations on your beautiful new little girl, Brenda!!! And I love the name Gracie Mae and know that she and Ivy will be great friends and wonderful companions for you! Endless joy and laughter !!!!!!

  20. She looks adorable. I hope she’ll feel at home soon.

I’ve begun to feel the itch for a new puppy. My little Morkie is 7 yrs old this year & I like to have a new puppy before my current dog ages too much to be able to deal with the puppy stage. But, the state of the world….Morkies must have their hair cut about every 4 to 6 weeks & the cost is a lot. To have two dogs to take to the groomer is probably not a good idea right now.

  21. The new kitty is adorable. I expect she will adapt quickly. Ivy will love having a kitty to show the ropes to around her territory and have the role of “Tutor,” and you have saved and brought an animal into a loving home who will bring more love, frustration, joy and laughter into your life.

    1. My daughter Kendra said I’d never get rid of Marley since I have a kitten. My 12 year old granddaughter has wanted one so bad. But her mother has dogs and her dad doesn’t care for indoor animals.

  22. I’m so glad you get another kitten! I’ve been hoping you would.

  23. Well that brings tears to my eyes…recently lost our five year old Spooky..enjoy…enjoy..bless your little family..love your blog💜

  24. I was having kind of a down day until I read your post. I am so tickled for you and Ivy. I think the new kitty will love it there. She just needs a little time to adapt, and she probably misses her brother. That’s a hint.

  25. Oh how special she is. I don’t think there will
Be any problems with them bonding. Give it a week maybe two and she will be scampering about. She is beautiful.

  26. Oh what fun! And she’s adorable. I’m sure she and Ivy will become best buddies in no time.

  27. Thanks for the huge smiles this morning!! Kitten can’t go wrong with you for a Mom!!!

  28. My heart is so warmed by this development! I was hoping you’d take in another kitty for the sake of rescue, and to keep Ivy (and yourself!) entertained! There is a chart out there detailing how long it takes rescued pets to feel truly at home. The stages begin at being overwhelmed and fearful, through realization that they “might” be safe here, to the final phase of total relaxation and acceptance of the fact they’re home at last! If anyone is capable of guiding an animal through those stages, it’s you, dear Brenda! Welcome home, sweet kitty! You’re in for a lifetime of love and joy!

    1. Ivy just came in and was comfortable. Remember she put a cricket in my house shoe during the night that first night she was here.

  29. Congratulations on your new arrival. Time will help everyone adjust and I’m thinking Ivy will be entranced.

  30. She is such an adorable Kitten!
so glad she’s found a new home with yu and Ivy..
    purrrrrfect!

  31. So cute! I sure hope you consider the name Holly. My absolute favorite Christmas carol is The Holly and the Ivy. Looking forward to kitten posts and pics!

      1. Gracie May👍
She is adorable, and so lucky if she finds her forever home with you and Ivy.
I have always marveled at how Ivy leaves all your decorations alone (my cat wouldn’t!) so this will be interesting.😊
Ivy is already engaged, and it’s a good sign there is no aggression.
I’m glad you have your very knowledgeable friend, and I’m cheering you all on! I hope she feels safe soon, but it helps that you and Ivy are both mellow.
Did I mention she is adorable?😁
        Your post brought smiles here.

  32. Oh how sweet. Hope Ivy will be so happy to have a new friend. With her being a kitty she probably will take her under her wing. She is a gorgeous color. How exciting. You will give her a great home.

  33. She is so cute! I love her tail too. Good luck and hope the transition is a short one. Looking forward to more pictures

    1. Ivy was meowing as I changed my sheets, and Ivy rarely makes a sound. I think she’s asking me why the kitten won’t come out to see her.

  34. She’ll come out when she gets hungry, it will be interesting to see how Ivy gets along with her. Since it’s a kitten I bet they will be good friends!

    1. She has her own litter box, food and water bowls, toys and everything. So she won’t be competing for anything of Ivy’s I hope.
