Fall In My Apartment & Kitten Update

Today I’m showing photos of fall in my apartment, as tomorrow we begin the month of October. The month when I really think of fall. You’ve seen most of them. I’m just putting them all in one place.

My bedroom bedding conveys the colors of fall without any other type of decor. I purchased the painting some months ago. You can see it here.

Decor Sets The Mood:

I love the way the sun is shining through and lighting up the forest of trees in this painting. It just “spoke” to me as soon as I saw it.

This year I began using seasonal paintings on my walls for a soothing place to rest my eyes.

I’ve shown you the rest of my apartment with a touch of fall. But today I’ll show them altogether. My objective was mainly to show how I see fall in colors and textures.

The Living Room:

The Opposite Wall In My Living Room:

My living room next to the couch shows a barn painting, textured pumpkins and fall faux leaves.

The Dining Room:

Fall in my apartment dining room includes a fall painting on the wall and the colors of gold/yellow on the table below.

The Kitchen:

Fall in my apartment kitchen shows a soft pumpkin and the colors of fall on the counter.

So that’s all four rooms of my apartment. I didn’t do any fall decorating in my bathroom.

Kitten Update:

Gracie holed up somewhere in the bedroom and slept most of yesterday. Kittens apparently need lots and lots of sleep, so I rarely see her much during the day.

I don’t know where her sleeping hidey-hole is, but wherever she was yesterday, I was unable to find it.

She is getting a little bolder each day. And she’s eating well, which I was worried about those first few days when she wasn’t nibbling much of anything.

Last night at one point I woke up and Ivy was at the end of my bed sleeping. Now that’s a first. I suppose she was trying to make sure she wasn’t left out of anything.

In the past I’ve tried to get her to come sleep on my bed at night and she never would.

The kitten isn’t really afraid of Ivy, though Ivy stills swipes at her with a paw when Gracie gets too close. The kitten jerks back, looks at her, then trots off to play somewhere else.

I haven’t heard any hissing the last day or so. Just the paw swiping between them.

Ivy is getting used to having her around. I hope one day they’ll play, because I think she has missed having a playmate. Ivy was perhaps just not aware that they could come in such small packages!

Don’t worry, Ivy love, mama still loves you just as much as she always has. There’s certainly enough love to go around.

  1. Your decor always looks nice, no matter what you do. I always enjoy seeing how you change things up according to whim or season.

Don’t be surprised if Ivy and Gracie don’t end up as “playmates”. I’ve had multiple cats (and still do – mother and son) and they don’t play together. They might just curl up together sometimes though – when they get used to each other.

  2. Brenda, when I saw the title of today’s post that said “Fall in the Apartment” I immediately tho’t “Oh, no, Brenda’s fallen; I hope she’s not hurt badly!” I was very relieved to see that’s not what you meant at all! So glad!

Your apartment looks lovely, as always. The new paintings on the walls are really easy on the eyes, they give a feeling of calmness. Also, I love your lamps, especially the ones in your living room. I have noticed them and liked their design and color for quite a while. You have such good taste for decorating. Always something interesting and pleasing to look at.

Glad to hear the kitties are doing okay, too. Thanks for sharing your “fall in the apartment”!

  3. Love all the soft fall colors. Your new kitty is adorable. Could you repost the link to the canvas with the golden leaves please?

  4. The kitten is cute Brenda!
Use your flashlight from your phone and you’ll prob find her.
That’s what I do esp when I drop a choc chip on the floor, I grab my phone and find it b4 my dog does! Lol

  5. Brenda,
these photos are beautiful. I love your picture in your bedroom; it feels spiritual. Your kitten is sweet and Ivy Lou, adorable as always.

  6. The soft neutral colors in your rooms are soothing. They remind me of spring and summer. Your new painting is interesting. Personally, I do not think it fits with tour other nice, softer things. I kept searching for one of the patterns in your lovely quilt in the painting. Thanks for the idea of a seasonal painting.

  7. I suspect soon the kitty cats will be curled up together for warmth when the weather gets cooler. Glad all is doing well there. Nice to see seasonal decorations you can live with versus some of the gaudy fall decorations people carry to extreme and look way too busy for me to look at each day.

  8. Brenda, I love all of your touches of Fall. Pumpkins always make me smile and the ones with the wood knob stems are adorable. Can I ask about the brown and white transfer ware round plate behind your pumpkins?

As for the kitten, I am not sure how I forgot to comment and welcome your new family member! Congratulations!

  9. I love your green bedside tables. Very pretty color. I also love that picture above the yellow pitcher. Ivy is quite the girl. I love reading about her and Gracie Mae. Kittens and cats love to sleep, and kitties love to get into cupboards and behind furniture to sleep. Just be careful if you have a dryer in your apartment because they will curl up in there. They are both adorable.
