In this week’s New & Notable Mentions I have lots of goodies for you. From decorating to gardening to recipes and books.
Decorating:
On Style By Emily Henderson, this couple traveled the country for 6 months in a van, then came back to L.A. to look for an apartment. They settled on this loft.
Thistle Key Lane had a post on subtle ways to decorate for fall. I was really taken with the small gourds in the bottom of the candle.
Uncommon Slice Of Suburbia shows how to make a dough bowl candle.
If you don’t want to make your own, you can purchase a dough bowl candle here.
Gardening:
Lovely Greens tells you how to plant a winter vegetable garden.
Fall is on its way, and The Cottage Journal talks about autumn inspiration via 7 social media accounts.
Recipes:
This week I found a recipe for a Low Carb Tuna Casserole and made it. It was delicious and I ate leftovers last night. I have leftovers for at least 2 more meals, so today I may freeze it. I found it at Healthy Recipes.
The Cafe Sucre Farine blog has a recipe for Upside Down Plum Cake. It’s almost too pretty to eat!
All The Healthy Things has a recipe for Mexican Street Corn Salad. This Mexican street corn salad, or esquites, is an absolutely delicious addition to your next cookout.
Books:
Sarah’s Bookshelves tells you about her most anticipated books of fall 2021.
I pre-ordered Liane Moriarty’s latest book “Apples Never Fall” and it arrives next week.
“Autumn leaves don’t fall, they fly. They take their time and wander on this their only chance to soar.” – Delia Owens, author of Where The Crawdads Sing

I had never heard of that blog, Thistle Key Lane. I really like her neutral fall decor. Can’t wait to check out all the links at the bottom of her post. Lots of inspiration! Thanks for sharing.
That plum cake looks amazing!
So many fun links to dive into this week, Brenda! I can’t believe that couple lived in a van for 6 months. Their loft is totally fantastic. I love Michelle from Thistle Key Lane like crazy. Her home has such a simple elegance about it that makes me want to declutter daily. Hope your weekend has been filled with all good things. The new site looks great, CoCo
Today’s post content is really strange. The same information appeared three times as I was scrolling down. Like multiple pastings or something.
I enjoyed the couples loft renovation. Her choice of green for her cupboards was wonderful. I live 45 miles west of LA and it is enjoying a resurgence of loft and apt living. There is also a big nightlife in downtown LA for the younger crowd.
Brenda~
