New & Notable Mentions #14
This week in New & Notable Mentions #14, I’m already digging into Christmas links. I know it’s a bit early, but in my book it’s never too early to seek inspiration for your own home.
Some of these ladies participated in a Christmas in July meme.
Decorating:
The Pond’s Farmhouse decorated her living space with vintage holiday decor. She’s quite the decorator.
Isn’t this the cutest little Christmas tree by Vintage Home Designs?
Crafts/DIYs:
I came across this tablescape created almost exclusively with The Pioneer Woman dishes and arranged by Rehabbed. The colors just spoke to me.
Shiplap And Shells made this gorgeous Magnolia and a mixed leaf wreath. She shows you how to make one as well.
Food:
Foodie Crush has a recipe for a nice juicy turkey for the holidays.
Show Me The Yummy has a recipe for cornbread dressing that makes my mouth water.
Half-Baked Harvest has a delectable recipe for Baked Butter Pecan French toast. I haven’t had French toast in forever! I used to make French toast for my girls. It just wasn’t as elaborate as this.
Books:
This week I’ve chosen 2 books I ordered from the Book Of The Month club. They should be here in a few days and I’m looking forward to reading them.
“The Family” was written by Naomi Krupitsky. She was born in Berkeley, California, and attended NYU’s Gallatin School Of Individualized Study. She lives in San Francisco but calls many places home.
The Family is her first novel.
A TODAY Show Read with Jenna Book Club Pick
A captivating debut novel about the tangled fates of two best friends and daughters of the Italian mafia. This is a coming-of-age story of twentieth-century Brooklyn itself.
“The Collective” by Alison Gaylen is a USA Today Bestselling book. Gaylen is an Edgar Award-winning author. She has written 11 books.
The Collective is a nerve-shredding, emotionally harrowing ride that also speaks volumes about our current moment. It also speaks to the dangers of our digital world and the potency of female rage.
“The most courageous act is still to think for yourself. Aloud.” – Coco Chanel

I don’t celebrate Christmas, but I could look at pretty Christmas decor any time of year! And, OH, that FRENCH TOAST!!!!
I’m not ready to look at Christmas anything just yet, lol.
That cornbread dressing looks really yummy.
Half Baked Harvest…Tieghan is one of my newer favorite cooks! I have tried many of her recipes and have never been disappointed. I follow her on Instagram and love watching her stories of her cooking the dishes she posts. I also have one of her cookbooks.
Everything is so pretty. And I enjoyed Foodie Crush’ recipe for Turkey breast. It is such an easy alternative to that big old Turkey when there is just two of you.
Loved the Christmas pictures!
I have a Christmas decorating question. How do you decorate with 2 kitty cats in your home? First Christmas to have 2 kitty cats in my home and one of them climbs on everything.
I’ve only decorated for Xmas with Ivy, and she didn’t bother anything. Not sure how I’ll decorate with a kitten like Gracie. She’s a bit more curious. Still trying to decide how I’ll do it.
Please post as you figure out what to do. I refuse to hang a Christmas tree from the ceiling!
I sure will post it when I figure it out and get it decorated!
Great reads and I love seeing all the pretty decor for the holidays. I start my decor early since my daughter does Thanksgiving. Lots of good inspiration. Happy Sunday.
I think you’ve covered it all, Brenda – thank you for all the work you do here!
