This week in New & Notable Mentions #15, I’ve got holiday decorating and crafts, plus good food and books for you to mull over for the holiday season.
Decorating:
Handmade Farmhouse decided to create an “angel room” that contained symbols of meaningful memories for her family. What she created is this neutral mercury glass and gold decorated Christmas tree.
Stonegable is sharing the current Christmas decorating trends for 2021.
Inspired By Charm shows you his vintage Christmas decor. And he goes one step further. He shows you how to style it as well.
Crafts:
Little House Of Four found oversized Christmas-colored sleigh bells at Walmart. She took them home and gave them a vintage-inspired makeover. And she shares how she did it.
Home Organization:
Ever wondered what to do with all those gloves and such you have to keep track of? Old Salt Farm will show you her answer to this problem in a stylish way.
Food:
Savory Nothings shares her recipe for Shepherd’s Pie.
Gimme Some Oven shared her recipe for Green Bean Bundles With Honey Garlic Butter.
Damn Delicious has a recipe for Candied Yams.
Do you like cornbread muffins? I adore cornbread of any variety. And so does my Ivy Lou. Add A Pinch gives you her recipe for her special cornbread muffins.
I made cornbread last night and even Gracie liked it. (Probably because Ivy did.)
Books:
The book “Wish You Were Gone” by Kieran Scott will be coming out in February 2022. But it can be pre-ordered now.
A “captivating thriller full of twists and surprises” about what happens when the death of a husband and father isn’t the tragedy everyone believes
Emma Walsh has finally worked up the courage to confront her husband James about his drinking. About his alcoholic rages, his blackouts, and the fear his behavior has created for her and their two kids.
But James never shows up to meet her as planned, and all her righteous words go unsaid.
And unsaid they remain, because the next time Emma sees James, his body lies crumpled amidst the wreckage of his flashy car. Which has been smashed to its final resting place halfway through the back wall of their suburban house’s roomy garage.
“Chevy Stevens is back and better than ever…Dark Roads is a chilling, pulse-pounding thriller that also tugs at the heartstrings.
The Cold Creek Highway stretches close to five hundred miles through British Columbia. The rugged wilderness to the west coast is isolated and vast.
It has become a prime hunting ground for predators. For decades, young women traveling the road have gone missing. And no killer or abductor who has stalked the highway has ever been brought to justice.
“Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant.” -Robert Louis Stevenson

A great collection of inspiration. Once again, I’m drawn to the food – specifically, the corn muffins!
I don’t like at many “big blogs” anymore, but Inspired by Charm has always been one of my favorites and I look at it from time to time. I love vintage Christmas, so I’ll have to check out his post.
The green bean bundles look fantastic! I might make those for Thanksgiving to take to my mom’s house.
I have followed Inspired by Charm for a long time. This might be the 3rd or 4th house I have followed him thru. I love his decorating.
So many great recipes and finds! I love the bells and everything Michael makes or does is amazing! Have a great day Brenda good luck tomorrow at the potential new apt.
Just read a book by Joyce Maynard that you will love..called Count The Ways..touched my heart in a different million ways…
I haven’t made a shepherd’s pie in a long time and this one looks delicious. I’ve been looking at casserole recipes to serve when some friends come to stay at Christmas and this will be perfect for the night the get here. Thank You, Brenda!
The mentons are all good. The reads sound pretty great. Happy Sunday.
