Afternoon Chat With My Oldest Daughter

Yesterday Kendra called and said she was working outside doing landscaping at her latest flip. And that she’d be there about two more hours if I wanted to come around for a bit.

Below is a photo of Ivy upside down in her cat tower looking out the French doors.

Kendra’s always working or picking her daughter up from school or going to softball games her daughter, Marley, plays in.

And we’re not talking about the softball like my daughters used to play a day or so each week. The ball games Marley plays in sometimes takes these 11 and 12 year old girls out of state.

How times have changed.

I am going to intersperse photos of Kendra and her two kids, Riley and Marley, into the content.

{The below photo is of Marley with a friend at softball. She’s on the right. Marley will be 13 in December.}

My only chance to really see Kendra right now is when she doesn’t have workers around or when she’s working outside a flip (Covid caution).

I don’t want to be around people who may not have been vaccinated. And Kendra has been vaccinated, but she’s around other workers. At my age I feel I need to be more cautious.

{The photo below is of Kendra when she finally gets home from working on her flip and has a chance to sit. Her dogs, Thor and Lulu, are all over her. Thor is behind her and Lulu is next to her.}

So I drove over and sat outside and chatted with her while she dug a bunch of holes to put ornamental grass plants into. I could see it was very hard work, because she wasn’t just digging dirt, but dirt with rocks in it.

It wasn’t that hot out yet. Though it would be by afternoon. But I enjoyed getting to see her and catch up on things we haven’t talked about via phone or email.

Kendra’s almost finished with this flip house and needs to get it on the market. She has lots of work ahead of her in the coming months.

A house she bought for herself and the kids to live in. And the duplex she bought to rent out. She will be going in and fixing up both. So yeah, lots of work!

{The photo below is of Kendra and son Riley some years ago. He will be graduating from high school May 2022 and then he’s off to college.}

{The photo below is of Marley in 2012 at the pumpkin patch}

{The photo below is of Kendra, I’m assuming getting a professional pic for her business cards.}

  8. Wow what a ❤ gorgeous family you have Brenda!! Hard workers also!!! The children will definitely get their work ethic from mom!!! Hoping 2022 gives Kendra the ability to take it easier, settle in a bit when she rehabs the new house. I doubt this flip will take very long to sell. These days, homes are so much in demand everywhere.
    Very surprised 😮 to read many of these sporting events are often sleepovers. Kinda strange. Like you said ,,,,, times have certainly changed.
    Is it cold in OK? We woke up to icy cold temperatures in Illinois. Soooo very chilly. Our heat is on. For awhile to warm us all up!!
    P. S. I laughed 😅 seeing that upside-down pic of Ivy!!! 🐈 What a hoot she is ❤
    If you have a bit of extra time, take a look at Beth Stern’s IG. She rescues pets. Mostly catties. Such a wonderful soul Beth has. There are countless others that do likewise. Always trying to save our wonderful pets. 😘 Thank 😊 you to everyone!

  9. Wow. What a collection of good looks in your family! And some would just sit there and bask in the admiration – but not this group! They are serious GO GETTERS besides! I’m so happy for you!

  10. Brenda, your daughter works very hard. Would it be possible to rent half of the duplex she is flipping? I’ve seen her finished flip houses & they are just beautiful!!
    Ivy sure does entertain us all. Be well & safe!!

  11. Your daughter is beautiful. And cute grands too! I’m so glad you get to see them. Take care of yourself! I enjoy reading your blog but I rarely comment. I’m in north Alabama, and this is my favorite time of year! Oh and Ivy is so fun to see and hear about. Keep up the good work.
