Someone commented that they missed the apartment tours I used to do. So today that’s what I have for you.

Caitlin and Dave and their cat have lived in their 950 square foot apartment for several years.

Caitlin loves nature and wilderness, something that was fostered growing up on the northern coast of California.

Caitlin and Dave found that there was a competitive rental market in the Bay Area, and their search for a home took some time.

They were so happy to find this apartment with its hardwood floors, eat-in kitchen and wonderful light.

They call their eclectic home a work in progress.

There are all sorts of whimsical sights to see. Lots of botanical influences and posters of birds and butterflies.

Both visual artists, Caitlin and Dave says it’s very important to enjoy every moment in their apartment.

They are happy to have a large living space that also serves as an art studio for Caitlin. And where photographer Dave can shoot inside photos.

I hope you enjoyed Caitlin and Dave’s Victorian eclectic apartment.

  1. I enjoy your apartment tours very much. While I don't live in an apartment I do live in a very small house, and I enjoy seeing how others decorate their small spaces. Also, storage solutions for small spaces are always interesting to me!

  2. I did enjoy the apartment tour. I especially like the walls of framed art. I always think I will do something like that in my living room, but can never decide what should go together. Anyway, their little apt. looks very cozy and comfy with lots of interesting things to look at. Thanks for showing it.

  3. I enjoyed seeing all of the different art they had in their apartment. Some interesting ideas for decorating, too.

I don't know if it is my computer or what, but I had a terrible time being able to view your blog post. The header bar with all of the different post titles kept moving sideways before I could get a chance to click onto today's post. I was about to give up on visiting after several tries. I gave it one final try and it finally went through. The revolving header with the different posts listed is a bit dizzying. I hope it can be slowed down a bit, so I can catch up to the most recent post to click on. Maybe it is just my laptop, but I thought you might want to know about it.

  4. I enjoy these tours! This is the smallest space I've lived in and I like getting ideas. I love what they've done with the space & that purple love seat is gorgeous!

    Thanks for sharing!

  5. Oakland is becoming quite hip. When my daughter returned to the Bay area after 2 years living back in our town, she found herself priced of San Francisco. She found a darling apartment in Oakland and of course it was small.

  6. I love this apartment! That's a very nice size apartment for CA; I lived in Los Angeles for years in a house that was just under 900 sq ft. They've done a marvelous job; it looks homey and cozy, but still very visually appealing.

  7. Thanks for sharing this. I like how the place has so much light, and I also like the touches of blue. I keep trying to get away from blue, especially the more aqua shades or Robins Egg Blue, but I find myself always drawn back to them. I think this couple has done a great job and it sure does feel homey.

  8. Thank you, Brenda, for doing another apartment post. I don't live in an apartment, but we now live in a quite small house in the 900-sf range, and I find I get a lot of ideas from looking at these apartments as well as yours. My husband has a lot of art supplies, and I love the way Caitlin and Dave have mounted the glass cups on the wall to hang pencils, pens and other items. We've been talking about ways to use the walls for storage without the finished project weighing too much, and this idea definitely could work for us. I also love how their color scheme of grays, blues and purples seems like a foggy morning — seems appropriate for the Bay Area!
