Cats & Music & All About November
Yesterday morning was a busy one. First Maria cleaned Steve’s apartment, then mine.
Then the vet came to see Steve’s cat Skippy, and she came next door to see Ivy too. Ivy was due for her 3-year vaccinations.
She hasn’t been feeling too well, I suppose. She’s not running around being active or eating much. I guess her tummy is upset. Poor Ivy.
Ivy has gained 1 pound, so the diet food mixed with her regular food is helping to keep her weight down somewhat. After the vet left, I put more diet food into her plastic bin. So now she’s probably eating at least 3/4 of the diet food.
The vet said that diet food fills them up more.
Ivy weighs about 3 pounds more than Skippy, who is a long-haired cat.
Music I’m Playing This Morning:
I am playing Brian Crain’s “Piano And Light” on YouTube. It always amazes me what emotions can be evoked by listening to someone playing piano music. Someone very talented, I might add.
I read that over 250,000 people have their own Brian Crain station on Pandora.
There have been over 100 million plays of Brian Crain’s music on Spotify.
About World-Renowned Composer & Pianist Brian Crain:
Brian was born in Hollywood, California. He has been composing music for as long as he can remember. Family members tell him that when he was very young he began whistling nearly all the time.
When someone would ask what he was whistling, Brian would usually answer something like, “I don’t know. I just made it up.”
Brian’s albums “Piano Opus” and ”Piano and Light” experiment with odd timings and minimalist concepts. Writing beautiful melodies on top of 7/8 timing is a challenge suited for Brian’s love of mathematics and quest for new ideas in music.
Hello, November:
November is best known for Thanksgiving and Veterans Day. But it’s packed with an abundance of special days of awareness and observances to celebrate.
Hello November.
You bring with you falling burnished leaves, crisp and light as air.
That coolness in the air speaks of a winter yet to come. When snow replaces the carpet of leaves and covers the ground.
The winds blow to make the leaves take flight. Skipping and landing who knows where in the waning of the early sunset.
Yes, darkness comes early, bringing with it the coziness of staying home and sleeping under flannel sheets and blankets.
Welcome, November. We pay homage to you, as you are the last month of the fall season.

I must check out Brian Crain!
I hope Ivy will feel better too. One of my kitties didn’t have a great reaction to his shots. He sought me out and plopped on the floor and then he hissed at me. He’s never done that, so I knew he was telling me how bad he felt. It made me feel terrible. I had two brothers that I got from a rescue organization and I had to put them on diets too. Oh that was not fun at all, but I was persistent much more so than the complaining and the vet congratulated me.
I love piano music. I took lessons growing up and played Mozart as well as others. In the college town where I went to school they had a Mozart festival, which I loved. My piano teacher died, so that ended my lessons. Also my best friend was very jealous and she resented my taking lessons and practice. We grew apart for a host of reasons and she basically ended the friendship. I do love all different kinds of music including show tunes and Doris Day to rock n roll. It just depends on my moods. This time of year I get in the mood for old standards. Linda Ronstadt recorded some of those old traditional pop standards too. There’s something I love about that era of music–sentimental I guess, but they are beautiful to me.
When I was married we went to see the Eagles in concert. I’ve always loved their music and Journey is another fav! I love rock music anyway and some hard rock too! It gets me motivated to start dancing around my home and I clean faster too! Lol
I hope Ivy feels better tomorrow Brenda.
Poor Ivy’s pretty sluggish still this late afternoon.
I hope sweet Ivy Lou feels better as the day wears on!
I’ve never paid much attention to piano music, and I don’t know why. In fact, I seldom listen to music. Need to rectify that; sometimes it’s a little too quiet.
A few days ago, I realized it was getting dark earlier than usual and I got excited. Silly, I know, but I do enjoy the coziness of a darker evening. Weather predicted for tomorrow includes a rainy, colder day for us and I’m very excited about it. I crave that kind of weather. Have a wonderful, Wednesday!!!
I like the coziness of a dark evening too.
Poor, sweet Ivy. I hope she feels better soon. I have a cd I play in the car of my dad playing a bunch of oldies songs on his piano. I love it!
Aw, that’s nice.
Just added Brian Crain to my pandora list. Thank you!
I hope you like his music.
I do hope Ivy is feeling a little better.
I don’t think I ever feel the need for any ‘light’ music but often feel like good old rock n roll, my favorite is the Rolling Stones. Even though I am getting up there in years I often want to feel jolted out of the quietness of the house, apart from that it also makes me come alive, it makes me feel happy. Luckily Simon likes it too. Actually, when we were in our twenties, I did not care much for the Rolling Stones, but for my husband’s birthday I bought him 2 tickets to one of their concerts as I knew he liked them, by the end of the night I was a fan and have been ever since.
When I was younger I liked different music. But I need tranquil music now.
