  1. Awww, Ivy looks so pretty! Can the lady who comes to clean your house do the laundry for you? If she starts it when she arrives, then maybe it will have time to dry, and she can hand it to you to fold. That’d give you something to do. I’m really sorry for all the pain you’re in! All you can do is hurry up and wait, and that sucks! 😥
Healing prayers and ((hugs)) for you!

    1. Housekeeper comes a week from today. Don’t think I had enough clothes to go over this cast for more than a week, so that’s why I did a load of laundry.

  2. Try some Gin Gins original ginger chews to help you fall back to sleep when you awaken during the night. I keep them in a small bowl on my bedside table (they’re individually wrapped), and when I awaken during the night, I pop one in my mouth and by the time it’s melted/dissolved, I’m drifting back to sleep and will sleep another 3-4 hours. 🙂
Ginger is an anti-inflammatory food and might be helpful as you manage/control your pain/discomfort.

Healing takes time. Time that involves rest, being still, and patience. I understand your frustrations and desire to move to the next phase of your recovery. Be kind to yourself, don’t overdo it, don’t jeopardize your overall recovery, because the last thing you want/need is a setback.
Wishing you peace, patience, and healing.

  3. Just added Shooter to my Netflix watch list. That’s one that I totally would have scrolled past until I read your synopsis. We do like to watch crime dramas like that. But I only watch them in the daytime! I like happier shows or food challenge shows at night!

Glad you are getting some additional pain meds. I can’t imagine how hard it must be to be non-weight-bearing following an ankle surgery!

  4. I’m sorry you’re in more pain. You may be right; things may be waking up, etc. It’s just going to take time.
Keep your mind occupied and just let the hours pass. This will all end in due time.
Healing thoughts coming your way, Brenda.

  5. I am glad you have machines in your apt…we had to buy our own here, but I am most grateful to have them here, and not share machines with others!! I sure hope you have less pain and soon!! Healing as we age sure takes a long time!!

    1. I distracted myself from the pain by creating a kitchen vignette. I’ll show you tomorrow.

  6. My sister had surgery on her back four weeks ago, has had some post-op experiences similar to yours. She, too, was looking for the surgery to provide relief, so it’s difficult to be patient with a long, slow recovery and deal with the pain. I hope you will see a little improvement each day.

    1. He told me in the beginning that this surgery might not work. But I had to try something. So any relief I get will be fully appreciated. And I’ll be grateful for it.

    1. I thought I was going back to see the doctor next Monday, but Kendra explained that no, it is Tuesday. I’ll just have to adjust my expectations.

  7. Being still (for real) is easier said then done! Casts drive me to my edge, but have taught me a lot of lessons, too, when I have tried to do too much too soon. It’s been just a week. You’re doing great. Try to have patience with yourself in the healing process so it’s not extended by more pain and needless injury. And be careful! I know that was the biggest issue for myself….to go slow with things that are needed. ….and such a sweet picture of the kitty. She looks like she just stopped to pose for you in front of your quilts!

    1. The pain got kind of intense this morning, so I messaged the doctor’s nurse and they’ve called the pharmacy with different prescribing dosage of Hydrocodone that I can take every 4 hours instead of every 6 hours. Kendra will pick it up. I broke one of mine in half and took it. It has helped.

      1. Take your medications. They were prescribed for several reasons. They will be good for pain and healing. It is still early in your recovery. Do not let the pain get ahead of you. For some reason when I have a cast I sleep better when it is covered so I cannot see it. Take care.

  8. Healing takes so much time. Be very deliberate in what you do. I’m being very conscious of my own movements, steps, balance even though my hip surgery has healed.

    1. I’m being as careful as I can. But both my daughters’ work and I can only use them to bring things I need, etc. They don’t have time to help with laundry and things that take hours to do.
