The week goes by so quickly. Before I know it it’s the weekend, and then Monday is here again.
Does it feel like the older you get, the faster time seems to move along?
Kendra Flip Houses:
Kendra bought another flip house. I haven’t seen it yet. It’s in the same part of town where she usually buys flip houses, which is in the Brookside area of Tulsa.
That girl can’t relax for two minutes. She just had surgery a few weeks ago and said she was going to take it easy for a while. That didn’t last long.
I don’t think I told you about the 6-foot-long black snake in her yard last week.
She had gone out in the backyard to mow the yard and there the big snake was. Scared the you-know-what out of her I think.
The Snake Named “Bob”:
Then a neighbor in her new neighborhood told her, “Oh, that’s just Bob. Bob won’t hurt you. He just likes to be near the air conditioning unit.”
So I guess her fear lessened enough so that she can go into the backyard again. And all the snake needed was a name!
Thank goodness she didn’t harm Bob. She would probably have lost new friends in the neighborhood, as they view Bob as something of a pet.
I Finished Reading Probably Ruby:
I finished reading “Probably Ruby” last night. I’m impressed with the writer and hope to read more of her books.
Three Other Books To Be Read:
The 3 remaining library books I brought home are: “The Sanatorium”, “When the Lights Go Out”, and “We Were Never Here.”
The Sanatorium: (Sarah Pearse) Elin has taken time off from her job as a detective to travel to the Swiss Alps. They will be celebrating her estranged brother and his girlfriend’s engagement.
Arriving in the midst of a threatening storm, Elin immediately feels on edge. There’s something about the hotel that makes her nervous. And when they wake the following morning to discover Laure is missing, Elin must trust her instincts if they hope to find her.
When The Lights Go Out: (Mary Kubica) Jessie Sloane is on the path to rebuilding her life after years of caring for her ailing mother. She rents a new apartment and applies for college.
But then the college informs her that her social security number has raised a red flag. And Jessie discovers a shocking detail that causes her to doubt everything she’s ever known.
We Were Never Here: (Andrea Bartz) Emily is in the mountains of Chile with her best friend, Kristen, on their annual reunion trip. On the last night of the trip, Emily enters their hotel suite to find blood and broken glass on the floor.
Kristen says the cute backpacker she brought back to their room attacked her, and she had no choice but to kill him in self-defense. And even more shocking: The scene is horrifyingly similar to last year’s trip when another backpacker wound up dead.
I have read “When the Lights Go Out” I like Mary Kubica. One of her books “The Other Mrs.” has been purchased by Netflix for a film. It was very good too. If you like her, you might want to try Shari Lapena and B.A. Paris. Both write in the same genre.
LOL,loved the Bob story,I’m terrified of snakes but I was aware that black snakes are harmless.
Thanks for the book recommendations, they each sound like my type of read.
I agree – time goes faster and faster. If I saw a 5 ft. snake, I’d surely faint! I really enjoyed Clickbait. Kept me guessing till the very last minute. Anatomy of a Scandal is on my list.
Yikes that is a big snake. The books and shows sound very good. Have a good week.
If I saw any kind of snake in my yard the whole neighborhood would hear me screaming!!! Lol
I don’t like any creepy crawlers inside or out!
Yrs ago my Aunt Mary lifted up her toilet seat to go pee and a snake was in there! She quickly put something heavy on the seat and called my Dad!
Then for the longest time she put a heavy brick on the toilet seat and a towel underneath the door bc she wasn’t taking any chances! After that she went upstairs to use her other bathroom. I wouldn’t step foot in the bathroom either even to go check for her! Lol
“Bob” would have scared the daylights out of me! I live in the desert where we have lots of creepy crawly creatures. Ugh!
Lots of good reading and TV watching in your day or evening.
I hope you’ve had a wonderful day, Brenda!
Nice day. Rained all night and sunny today. Plugged the water features back in and my daisy flowers are looking a bit pitiful from all the rain.
Snakes are one creature we don’t see often here in IL, except for an occasional garter snake, and that’s bad enough, lol. I know they won’t hurt you, but they sure do creep me out!
We just added Apple TV onto our streaming apps and are in the middle of watching Severance, which is enthralling. I learned that I can’t watch it at night though, as I then have nightmares!
TV shows don’t give me nightmares. It’s people who cause me to have nightmares. A lot of bad folks in this world right now.
Black snakes eat copperheads and keep rodents under control. I had a four foot one cooling off under my deck one day. As long as he stays outside and does his thing, we won’t have a problem.
That’s how I felt about other critters who come to the yard. If they do their job, we won’t have a problem.
I saw a little black lizard in my head yesterday. I did a double take as they are always so much lighter.
Do you think Ozark will make a return?
Tomorrow I start the process of getting measured for cataract surgery. I’m hoping I will be able to enjoy reading after that.
I had both eyes done when I was 61.
Like the picture of what I think is your dining area. The creams, and greens, and whites all look so nice together and looks so peaceful and pretty.
Yep, it’s the dining room.
You like to read a lot of suspense and mystery novels. I’ve found as I’ve gotten older they just put me too much on edge. Now I limit myself to frothy romance novels with bossy heroines 🙂 I wish Jane Austen had written 100 novels.
I wish Jane Austen had written 100 novels, too!
I don’t like to watch or read romance, science fiction or comedy. I think I just don’t usually get the comedies because I don’t get jokes.
I love the idea of naming other creatures, it really does make one think that they are someone and not just ‘something’, just as it should be, I think they have just as much right to be here as we do.
I agree.
We’ve seen black snakes in our yard too! I guess we should name them!
Name them and they won’t seem as scary I bet.
