Last night as well as this morning, Gracie has been acting a bit strange. Her head slightly trembles, and she’s making a little noise in her throat.

However, she doesn’t act sick.

Gracie won’t come out from under the bed so I can see her better and I can’t reach her under there. She won’t even come out for tuna. Of course I’m a worried Mama.

I’ve called the vet and she is on vacation. They’re supposed to get back to me. Might be nothing but allergies, her assistant told me.

But you never know. Better to be safe than sorry, as they say.

What I’m Watching On Amazon Prime Video:

I finished up the available two seasons of Jack Ryan. I’m not typically into action shows, but this was a good series. Reminded me of Homeland.

Tom Clancy has written 22 books in the Jack Ryan series and I’m thinking about reading them. The first one is “The Hunt For Red October.” I’ve never read any of Clancy’s books, but I’d like to.

Now I’m in the second season of Bosch. There are seven seasons. I hate when there’s only one season of something because I feel like I just get to really know and understand the character and then it ends.

Bosch is an American police procedural streaming television series produced by Amazon Studios and Fabrik Entertainment. It stars Titus Welliver as Los Angeles Police detective Harry Bosch.

The show was developed for Amazon. The first season takes its inspiration from the Michael Connelly novels City of Bones (2002), Echo Park (2006), and The Concrete Blonde (1994).

The seventh and final season was released on June 25, 2021. A spinoff series, Bosch: Legacy, is set to premiere on IMDb TV on May 6, 2022.

I’m looking forward to that premiere. The Bosch spin-off is set to follow Harry Bosch’s career as he leaves the LAPD and becomes a private investigator. It’s also based on Michael Connelly’s books.

Welliver also narrates Connelly’s audiobooks.

What I’m Reading:

I’m currently reading Lucy Foley’s last book “The Paris Apartment.”

I got my book through the Book Of The Month club. BOTM gives you a choice of a handful of new hardback books at the beginning of each month. You can read about the BOTM club here.

If you’re interested here is my link.

In Gracie Acting Strange & What I'm Watching & Reading, here is the front cover of Lucy Foley's The Paris Apartment

Jess needs a fresh start. She’s broke and alone and has just left her last job and under less than ideal circumstances. She contacted her only family, her half-brother Ben, and he didn’t sound thrilled to hear from her. But he said she could crash with him for a bit.

When she arrives at an apartment she never thought Ben could afford, he’s not there. She’d just been talking to him on the phone and suddenly the phone call was cut off. She’s worried.

She stays at his apartment, but she can’t find out what happened to Ben. His neighbors aren’t very friendly and seem to avoid her.

Everyone’s a neighbor. And everyone’s a suspect. All knows something they’re not telling.

Lucy Foley also wrote “The Book Of Lost And Found”, “The Invitation”, “Last Letter From Instanbul”, “The Hunting Party”, “The Guest List”, and now ” The Paris Apartment.”

  1. Brenda,
I’m worried about your Gracie girl. I hope you can get her looked at ASAP. Anytime one of my rescue cats becomes reclusive; I also call my Vet. It’s hard to know what they can get into.
I loved the series Bosch, especially his fondness for Jazz. The other T.V. series I’ve really liked, is ” The Fall” with Gillian Anderson of “The X Files.”
I like Tom Clancy’s books, especially “The Hunt for Red October.” I also like David Baldacci’s different series of stories.
I love your office and the rest of your apartment. You have done an amazing job.

  2. You might have to get Gracie to an emergency vet. Cats hide when they’re sick. If she’s not coming out even for tuna, that’s concerning. Please keep us posted.

  3. Gracie and Ivy might have had a spat while you were deeply asleep or gone on an errand. She might have a puncture wound.

  4. Might it be possible she has something Iike a string or something similar caught in her teeth, or even her throat & is try to dislodge it by shaking her head & clearing her throat sounds?

  5. Brenda, I love Harry Bosch shows and books…I listen to the audio tapes while I craft. Have you watched Elementary (Sherlock Holmes-present day-New York)…you can stream on HULU. Highly recommend.

  6. Love Jack Ryan movies. Not a fan of Clancy books – too long and too much detail! 🙃 Love Bosch on Amazon. I’ve enjoyed listening to audiobooks of the Bosch series. I download them from our library.

Hugs to Gracie! Hope she’s back to her normal self soon.

  7. Poor Gracie, I would be worried too, given the symptoms you noted. I remember you had a vet who visited your former apartment, is it possible to get that vet or a different one to make a house call to help get Gracie out from under the bed and examine her? I can’t imagine it would do your body any good to be down on the floor trying to get Gracie out from under the bed by yourself. I devoured Tom Clancy novels in the 1980s and 1990s. I read the first 7 of his novels: The Hunt for Red October (1984), Patriot Games (1987), The Cardinal of the Kremlin (1988), Clear and Present Danger (1989), The Sum of All Fears (1991), Without Remorse (1993), and Debt of Honor (1994). These books feature a recurring cast of characters, including Jack Ryan. “The Hunt for Red October” was made into the best Tom Clancy movie, in my opinion, with an excellent cast and compelling edge of your seat adaption from the novel.

    1. My regular mobile vet is the one on vacation. She just asked me remotely to take a video of her. But I can’t find her. She’s in some hidey-hole.

  8. Cats hide their sickness really good. Sometimes till it’s too late. Make sure she hasn’t eaten on any of your houseplants. Don’t wanna worry you but something doesn’t sound right with her. Praying she will be back to normal soon. Please keep us updated.

    1. I don’t think there’s any way she can get to the house plants. Only thing I can think of is I had two house cleaners in here Thursday.

  9. I wonder if Gracie could have nibbled on something in the carpeting. She has a whole new world to explore and might have found something she shouldn’t have. I know you will have her seen as quickly as possible.

I’ve watched all of the Bosch series and loved it. But of course I reported for the Los Angeles Superior Court system and met my husband — a Robbery-Homicide LAPD detective — on a trial so I’m partial. I also enjoyed his partner in the series.

  10. Not to worry you or anything, but when my cats are ill they go under the bed. I’m not talking about an upset stomach. You will probably have to get someone to help you get her from under the bed. Make sure your door is closed. I’d also call another vet to get her checked. She may have ingested something or hurt herself in some way. I’ll be praying for little Gracie.
