  1. I was going to recommend the grabber and everyone beat me to it. I have that one and it’s sooo helpful.

  2. The only new Christmas decor I bought this year was a couple of Putz houses at a vintage shop and a bottle brush tree and a “joy” banner in another vintage shop. I am slowly unpacking my Christmas stuff and deciding where to put it and I’m just not in the mood. I’ve been sick (Covid!) so it’s taking me a long time. I’ve already started a donate pile for some of the Christmas stuff I know I don’t want anymore. I do that every year. Pare down.

You mentioned using fabric softener. I know you’ve been getting more into natural stuff, so I thought I’d mention that fabric softener is very toxic – and it’s also bad for your clothes.

    1. Funny that you would mention that about the fabric softener. I just recently broke my habit for those very reasons you mentioned. My husband was after me for the longest time and I finally started researching it. Not only is it bad for your clothes it’s bad for your machine. But obviously everyone has their own reasons for using it. I just used it because I thought you were supposed to and because I like the smell. Our clothes actually are a lot cleaner without it. Oh and dryer sheets are bad too. And scent beads. All the stuff I love to use! But honestly since no longer using that stuff, I actually like my laundry better now.

  3. Ivy is one funny cat…never heard of a cat liking to play fetch!! Glad you have some entertainment…maybe help take some of the pain off your mind…so sorry…I have a bum leg and a bum knee…but recently the leg has far surpassed the knee…so at least that I guess…so I don’t notice the knee much anymore…I did get some laser treatments done on the leg and it did help…time to go back for more…

  4. I love perusing all rhe Christmas decor online. I’ve plenty, but still like to look! Decided just to put candy canes on my tree this year instead of pulling out the ornaments and wrap all my wall art pictures like a present in the same snowman wrapping paper to make everything cohesive and fun. Simple but really made things cute and festive. Hope you’re having fun getting your decor started! This is my favorite time of year.

  5. A grabber sounds like a good idea. My mom always had one because she had very short arms!
I do love your taste in decor, Brenda! So many lovely choices!
I may have to go ahead and check out some things for cyber Monday…..trying to edit out my stuff, though!
Spent the day with my (widowed) dad whose cat got out 8 weeks ago. He just got him back, this weekend. He’d sit for hours in a folding chair at night watching for him…..and had a trail cam to track the times he came. I know you can understand Dad’s grief at not having his cat…..and not knowing if he was ok…..anyway, all of us had the same shouting and rejoicing reaction when he called with the amazing news this weekend…..I mean we have been trapping and trail cam-ing, and keeping the doors open. Wow. So thankful. Anyway, thought you’d like that story with the oh-so-happy ending!

  6. I’ve done a little shopping on line for my granddaughters (11 and 9 years old) and a handful of decorations for my Gingerbread Tree. I did go out earlier today and I was exhausted when I got home. It’s way too “peoply” out there. LOL
I hope your body stops hurting very, very soon. I hate to be in pain.
    Have a wonderful Monday, Brenda!

  7. Nope haven’t ordered anything yet but might get a few new books and some for gifts from Barnes and Nobles. I have enough to shop my house and that’s fine with me as I need to declutter so it’s easier for me to get the boxes of decorations out. I did not find it necessary to go out shopping with the crowds this past weekend to bargain hunt.

  8. The reindeer are awesome. I’ve never used them either in decorating. I had few things to order daughter for Christmas and when i went to order them many prices have lowered! Yahoo.

You will enjoy the grabber. They gave me one in 08 when i had back surgery. I use it all the time. Maybe just not on heavy things from a shelf. Anxiously awaiting your decorating pictures🎄☃️❄️.

  9. You need to get one of those “grabbers”. Its a long metal thingy that picks things up.

  10. So sorry you’re experiencing pain in the back/hip area again. Me bad, but I can’t remember if you’ve had that looked at, but if it is sciatica, can be controlled with an anti-inflammatory diet. For bargain shopping on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, I’ve looked at some items that you pointed out in prior posts and was really tempted to buy some of them because they were SO pretty, but have so far been able to hold off buying anything this year. I bought a lot of things on close-out sales at the end of last Christmas season. I have enough Christmas decorations to do 10 big trees at this point and the storage space where I keep the Christmas and some of my “home decor” items is getting filled up – time to stop. Been working on the living room this weekend – accent wall was painted, furniture rearranged to make room for the Christmas tree centered at the large picture window at the front of the house, thank goodness for furniture sliders, made short work of moving the sofa (very heavy) and the gel fuel fireplace (also heavy)! The front porch was decorated and later today I’ll bring up the Christmas tree I’m going to use this year; didn’t get to it yesterday. It gets dark here at 5 p.m. and when it’s dark outside all I want to do is get into my PJs and warm fuzzy robe and zone out! I ran out of daylight and with it, the energy to do much more that putz around and think of more decor things I could maybe do; am thinking about what to put up on the wall above the fireplace now that I’ve got it moved to a solid wall instead of underneath a “ranch style” long narrow window. Dark coming so early subtracts a lot of extra working hours of physical work for me. But it will get done, it always does 🙂

  11. I’m not buying anything for decorating this year. I decided to “shop the house” like you used to do and use what I have. That way I’m saving money and not getting a cluttered up house. I don’t feel the need to order things to make myself feel better.

  12. I used a Pottery Barn reward for cute little fake pumpkins a week before thanksgiving, marked down to $10/set. $5 today! But I did have them last Wednesday when I could use them right away. You got a jump on shipping with your order, but it sure is more fun to see a previous purchase bump up in price rather than go down…even if it’s just a few cents! I like playing that game!
Can’t wait to see your beautiful display. Tasteful choices, as always!

    1. I know. I went back to look and saw that some things were even lower than when I ordered and felt let down a little. So I know the feeling.

  13. Perhaps I missed it, but do you have any idea as to why you’re experiencing pain in your back/hip? Pain and the sensation of a mild electric shock is concerning.

    1. I had this going on before I had ankle surgery. I was going to physical therapy for my back and hip about twice a week. I’ve always had a bit of sciatica. I didn’t have it for the last 6 months because I wasn’t walking much I guess. That’s what Greg the therapist thinks.

    1. I meant detergent and fabric softener. Should have been more specific. I keep forgetting about the grabber. I’ll check it out!

    2. Thank you, Marcia, for this link! I am in the market for a grabber but my head was spinning over the multitude of choices. I trust your review, and I’m grateful for the group of Brenda’s friends I’ve found here!

    3. I already have a grabber device, but this one is so much better! I just might order this one. Thanks for sharing it!

  14. It is so enjoyable to look up the things you have ordered…the reindeer are beautiful….can’t wait to see it all together…that red tree of course will be perfect for the pop of red you love.. Have not ordered anything yet but having fun looking…💕❄🎄
