Ivy’s New Routine
Ivy has a new routine.
She has new things she’s currently doing that I find interesting. Well, you know how it is. When your baby achieves a new accomplishment, you want to crow about it.
And Ivy is my baby.
When I’m in the bathroom, she sometimes jumps in the tub and turns to look at me. I can tell she wants me to turn the tub faucet on to let it drip.
Now, not only is she drinking from it, but she’s also bathing in that dripping water.
She will stick one front paw out and let it get wet. Then she brings her paw up and rubs it on her face.
Then when she’s satisfied with that paw, she sticks the other one under the water.
And the process begins again. She must really like to be super clean.
She also sticks her head under the water and gets it wet. I guess that’s her idea of shampooing.
The Swirly Cat Toys:
Remember these little swirly plastic toys she played with at the other apartment? The ones that look like this?
You can buy them cheap. I can’t recall why I bought them in the first place.
Certainly it never occurred to me that my cat would want to play fetch with them.
Dogs play fetch, not cats. Or so I thought.
Until Ivy taught me to play fetch with the colorful swirly toys.
At the old apartment, she liked to play fetch. She’d bring me the toy in her mouth and drop it in front of me.
Then I’d throw it and she’d race after it. She’d pick it up and bring it back to me to throw again and again.
She didn’t seem to want to play with the swirly toys here because of the carpeted floor. The toys wouldn’t roll like they did on vinyl flooring.
But now we’re playing fetch again. Maybe all that running will help her lose weight.
Oh my, that Ivy Lou! She is a sight, as my Granny would say.
I’m sorry to hear about your back pain. Hopefully it has subsided by now.
Oh, that Ivy! I love how she “showers!”
Sorry about your back problems, Brenda. Back pain can be so very debilitating. I know from experience. Mine is pretty well under control now since my osteopathic doctor diagnosed mild scoliosis and gave me some stretches to do.
Ivy’s antics in the bathtub and with the swirly toys are cute. Especially the washing her face and head under the tub faucet. How funny. Our male cat, Ninja, loves to drink out of the tub faucet but so far hasn’t washed his paws or face in the water. Mentioning your Granny saying “What a sight” made me think of my own Grandma who used to say that something was “a sight for sore eyes!” Funny those old sayings. I often think I should make a list of all the ones I remember being used in my family.
Take care of your back, Brenda. Don’t rush anything.
That’s so great to hear that Ivy is playing fetch again! I always love her little updates. I sure hope your back feels better soon.
I hope you can find a good chiropractor!! It is a horrid pain to have back pain…or any pain. Seems old age brings an awful lot of pain. Few days there are, that we are painfree at our house.
Oh poor you! Always something. Hope your back feels better soon!
I am sorry about your back and hope you are doing better. I am not a health professional but the cause may be a muscle spasm, generally due to either a muscle strain or dehydration. You have been getting out decorations etc and may not realize how much strain your back endured. I have had a spasm only twice, once my lower back and once my neck, and both times I could not move that part of my body at all. The lower back was from overdoing it on a property we were clearing and the neck was caused by a new medication that depleted my potassium levels. They were years apart. The doctor’s office told me to stay very hydrated and be as still as possible for a day or two. Both times the spasm was gone after a day or so. I always keep electrolyes on hand after that neck spasm. I like Gatorade Zero w no sugar. Ivy is adorable and you should always crow about her!
A chiropractor is my go to when my back is bad…they have saved me many times…feel better soon💕
Slow down, Listen to Greg. I am so sorry to hear about your back. Please take it easy, everything will get done in its time. Sending big hugs from Wisconsin.
What a smart cat little Ivy is! Praying your back is better very soon !
My cats would panic being anywhere near dripping water! Ivy is an innovative little smartie!
I’ve woken to excruciating back pain in the past. So extreme that I was nauseous and couldn’t even walk. Only lying flat on my back for two days, pumped with Tylenol eased it away. Yours isn’t as serious, but I still feel badly about it because you want to see your home decorated. Best wishes for quick healing. Let us know!
That Ivy! She’s one smart cookie! And she runs a tight ship, too!
I surely hope your pain goes away soon. I wonder if something like KT tape would help?
Your Ivy is such a joy! Love her bathing skills!
And I am sorry to hear that your back is hurting – that’s difficult to say the least. When I read about how you were getting out your Christmas ornaments and decorations, I thought you were doing so well. Take a good rest, think about how you will proceed on the decorating when you are feeling better.
Gentle hugs for you, pets for your kitty girl.
Never a dull moment when there’s a cat in the house! Ivy cracks me up!
Your body is needing a break. When we’re excited about doing something we naturally want to ‘git her done’. Take a day to rest a bit.
Yesterday I was rushing around my home and took a major tumble. Unable to stop the momentum I ended up on the tile floor on my back. All I could do was lay there in tears because I feared I’d broken something. I managed to get up, took some pain medication because I knew something would definitely start hurting. Thankfully only my pride was hurt but I am sore. I needed to slow down for a bit.
Enjoy your day and contemplate small tasks!
I love that she uses the tub water to “bathe!”
