My Apartment Kitchen Revisited For Fall
I wanted to show you my apartment kitchen revisited for fall. There’s been a few new additions from what I showed you during the summer months.
I found a white ceramic cream and sugar set on Amazon that I ordered. It was just so cute I couldn’t resist.
I had it in my Amazon Cart for the longest time before I just went for it.
Isn’t this little white textured set by Mud Pie adorable? And the clear knob on top of the sugar bowl was the icing on the cake. I knew it would be perfect for my coffee bar.
I’ve also been getting things that are great aids to cook with in my kitchen. Measuring cups and spoons, etc., to replace ones that were very old.
I’ve been exchanging plastic items with wood utensils and stainless steel straws.
I guess I’m trying to do my part for the environment. Furthermore, I just don’t like plastic.
Doing My Part For The Environment:
Plastic straws are not recyclable. So they end up in landfills and incinerators and litter our streets, parks and roadsides.
They clog our gutters, rivers, lakes, and streams. And worst of all they pollute our environment.
Plastic straws can sicken and kill seabirds, fish, sea turtles, manatees, dolphins and other animals. They get lodged in their noses, throats and stomachs.
That pains me to think about.
Recent Photos Of My Kitchen:
Shortly after I moved here, I got a set of three sturdy stainless steel mixing bowls with handles that I use all the time. Now I don’t know how I got by without them!
Yesterday I took more photos of my kitchen, which I’ve given a very slight fall ambiance.
I don’t want to add decor that would clutter up my kitchen because I prepare meals there. And there isn’t a lot of counter space to begin with.
Mrs. Meyer’s Fall Line:
Have you tried Mrs. Meyer’s fall acorn and spice candle and dish washing liquid? I ordered these during the recent big Amazon sale. They are delightful.
The candles smell divine. Two came with my order, and I gave one to Lisa.
She had already used up the vanilla candle I gave her as a housewarming gift some months ago.
I also ordered Mrs. Meyer’s All Purpose spray and laundry booster.
So all in all, I ordered two soy aromatherapy candles, Mrs. Meyer’s lavender laundry booster, the all purpose spray, and the liquid dish soap.
I added a white pumpkin to the cutting board to celebrate fall. Because fall decor in small doses is what I’ve come to love best.
Countertop Organization:
In the glass containers I store brown sugar, raspberry tea mix, cereal, and oatmeal packets.
They’re lined up against the back of my kitchen countertops where they don’t take up much room.
Countertop organization is crucial in a small kitchen.
I like to have an organized kitchen, and I’ve created one in my narrow galley space. Everything has a place in my little kitchen.
The Smell Of Morning Coffee:
In the morning I pop a decaffeinated k-cup into my coffee maker on my coffee bar. I enjoy the scent of the coffee as it pours into my white mug.
I don’t think much can rival the smell and taste of freshly brewed coffee.
This is the view of the other side of my kitchen countertops.
With not much room on either side of my sink, I arrange things that are needed most often in my kitchen.
In the clear jars are flour and sugar. And the white pitcher holds scrubbing brushes near the sink.
I added a candle that I like to light at night when I’m watching TV in the living room.
The soft glow guides me around the living room and into the kitchen when I want a snack.
Colors Of Nature:
As you already know, I’ve filled my open kitchen cabinets with lots of green and white dishware.
I love the calming effect of the colors of nature. The greens on the trees outside are taking on the beautiful brilliance of fall.
My kitchen has a slight farmhouse style vibe with the barn themed salad plates I found at Hobby Lobby on clearance last summer.
The rest of the dishware in the open cabinets is solid green or white.
I love my teak wood kitchen utensils.
I’ve also switched to stainless steel metal straws. They’re a much better choice than the plastic straws given out at restaurants, etc.
Lately I’ve been spending more time baking in my kitchen.
I often bake potatoes in my countertop convection oven. They are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and so delicious.
I snip chives from just outside my door and add them to my baked potato with butter and sour cream. Yum!
Don’t you love the aroma in your kitchen when you’re cooking or baking?
A kitchen is truly the heart of a cozy and well loved home.

Your kitchen always looks so nice. Homey and cheerful. I agree there’s nothing better than the smell of freshly brewed coffee in the morning. You were talking about not using plastic straws and the environment…I agree; I’ve gotten rid of most of my plastic. I rarely use a straw but I do have metal ones for when I do use one. Now how about those k-cups? They are terrible for the environment, too as they’re only recyclable if you separate all the components of the little cup.
When I look at your kitchen, one saying pops into my mind…
HOME SWEET HOME…
I think you have the cutest apartment. And even though your kitchen is small, like mine, it is cozy and organized. Like your new sugar and creamer. Also, the pitcher you keep your scrubbers in is adorable.
I have a lot of green in my home, so appreciate your dishes. I am determined to find some new crockpot recipes for this winter. Just a nice way to prepare a meal during the cold months.
I have been reading your blog since you were on the blue house, and around the time you broke your ankle. I have greatly enjoyed your writing and think you are very talented.
I read your blog on my phone and for some time now I have been seeing a multitude of ads. On this post it was 14 before the comments and 4 in the comments, and some are animated. I looked on my home computer a few months ago and they were there too. You see, this has been on my mind for awhile.
I realize everyone needs to make money. It’s just I have grown tired of fighting the ads.
One feature on some blog posts is an option for a reading mode or simplify mode. Your site doesn’t have it at present, though.
I’m not sure how long I can continue reading, and it am sorry for that.
I downloaded an ad blocker and I no longer fight the ads.
Which one? Is it on a Android phone?
Thanks!
No, iphone. Go to your App Store and look up ad blockers.
You’re kitchen looks lovely, Brenda. Warm, cozy, and inviting! I love the colors, green and cream. So calming together. The creamer and sugar set are too cute.
You’re probably tired of hearing it, but please do not overdo, Brenda. You always say you know you shouldn’t push yourself so hard but then you end up doing it anyway and end up with (more) pain. Your kitchen is so neat and prettily decorated, I am jealous. The green and white display of plateware and glassware in your open cabinet is beautiful. But I have at least an inkling of how much effort it takes to get a kitchen organized and keeping it pretty like yours, and that’s why mine is pretty much a mess. You are so right, there’s nothing like the aroma of something delicious baking in the oven or cooking in the crock pot that says “HOME.” I’m baking an “Impossible Cheeseburger Pie” for supper and leftovers this afternoon. I found it online years ago, it’s a Bisquick recipe but I use a less expensive generic baking mix. I want to bake some brownies tomorrow (I’ll see), it’s that time of year.
You’re right. I often do that. The only way I can accomplish much of anything these days is by sitting on the seat of the rollator. I sit to wash dishes, prepare meals, etc.
Your kitchen looks great! I love the brown lamp. May I ask where you found it?
Indeed you do have the decor gene!! Looks very cute in your kitchen!! Yep, baking here today for someone’s birthday tomorrow. So it does make the apt smell nice.
Your kitchen is cozy and delightful! You have such good taste in creating a welcoming home.
Everything looks inviting and cozy. Who’d ever want to leave your happy little nest?
Our kitchen like yours is a gathering place to chat, drink and eat merrily . It’s nice to have neighbors who appreciate your baking and company. I think it is great of you to share that gift.
As always, your kitchen is lovely. You have such a good eye for accessorizing.
The sugar and creamer are gorgeous. You live like many of us do, just making our homes cozy and our happy place. Have a peaceful day everyone.
As usual such a beautiful job…it looks like country sampler magazine…love the sugar and creamer..you are right…the glass knob just makes it. It all flows together beautifully. Thanks for sharing and making my day💕
You definitely sound very upbeat this morning. Keep doing whatever makes your heart sing.
Brenda you sound so upbeat this morning. Love your decor . So fresh and tidy. Wish I was there to have a nice cup of coffee Be careful. Great you are cooking and baking . This fall weather is wonderful.
Hugs
Claudine
Love your post. I did have a time at getting to your blog. You used to have a “Blog” link at the top of your page. I no longer see it and had to google your name and blog to get here. Maybe I’m just not seeing where you moved it to?
Sorry found it. Just in a link below. Like they say if it had been a snake……. lol Sorry for the confusion….just was used to seeing it at the top of the page. Creature of habit.
I’m sorry. The menus somehow got switched. It is now also at the very top of the page for your convenience.
Thank you Brenda. 🙂
