  1. SO NICE you had individual visits with the girls!! Combined visits are nice, but so are individual ones. For the first time ever I think, since our son married over 24 yrs ago now, he (and wife and 1 kid) came by for several hours to visit on mom’s day…plus of course, our other nearby daughter came for afternoon and evening. It is nice…tho we miss our other daughter so far away. But she is good to acknowledge such on other ways.

  2. Happy belated Mother’s Day to you Brenda! It sounds like you had a wonderful day… and I am looking forward to seeing your new plants! Greg has been a special person who has come into your life at just the right time and place – I imagine that he feels the same way too:-)

  3. I’m so happy to hear that you had a pleasant Mother’s Day.

  4. I too had a very nice mom’s day! My mom has been gone now for 22 years, but I spent it with my two sweet sisters, and we reminisced alot about our mom and how she made every holiday special. It was a great tribute to her, for all of us to be together! We spent it at the coast of Oregon and the weather was wonderful and hot! I usually begin planting around June 1st as the nights here still can be below freezing into June. I love that Greg is such a great friend and help, and that you got to spend the day with your two daughters. I have a son and he texted me 3 times! and also sent a lovely Harry & David box of goodies… we will “talk” on the phone one night this week too. We live too far apart to spend most holidays together, unless a lengthy trip is planned and I always look forward to those! xoxo Marilyn

  5. Nice to hear your lovely family spent time with you on Mother’s Day. It’s hard once you’ve lost your own mom so all moments that your children spend are to be cherished. I don’t need a lot of fanfare so I am happy home and eating simply. Good meal shared and a trip to a favorite place is a perfect day. My grandmother use to say the only way to have a friend is to be one and it sounds like Greg is that friend who appreciates you as much as you appreciate him. Such kindness is perfect.

  6. Sounds like you had a nice day with your girls and grandkids. Glad you’re getting around much better, too.

    1. It’s one day at a time. Some days I’m doing pretty good; others I’m not. But I live for them all.

  7. I’m so glad you got to spend some time with your girls! Topped off with a fabulous visit to the nursery. Yay!!!
I had a very quiet but lovely day. Didn’t see my daughter because my oldest granddaughter had surgery last week so they were home so she could heal. I did chat with my daughter on the phone for quite a while and short conversations with the 4 grandchildren. All in all, a very good day.
I think it’s so wonderful that we enjoy being home and without dealing with boredom. When I do go out, I feel an overwhelming sense of peace as soon as I pull up to my home and put my car in park. Difficult to explain but it really is a great feeling. I absolutely love being home. One of my neighbors says she believes I’m living my best life. She’s right!
    Enjoy your day!

    1. I feel the same when I get home and turn the car off. I just want to go in and shut the world out for awhile.

  8. So glad you had a nice visit from your girls and a visit to the nursery. Wonderful to hear you are not bored with your home and garden. That means you have done a great job making your home a cozy little house! Have a great day.

  9. A nice treat to go with Kasi to the nursery and pick out a few more plants! Weather permitting, a friend and I will be going out early Friday morning to our favorite nurseries and then have a late lunch, depending on how long it takes up to meander through the green houses. We have 2 nurseries we always go to and it’s difficult to rein myself in sometimes. I always have a list, and somehow the purchases seem to magically double. I am looking for ferns this year myself. I read an article recently about Zone 5 hardy ferns and I so love how graceful and full they look, especially when in a hanging pot, I’m going to do a little research this week and write down names of types that will survive Wisconsin winters. I don’t celebrate Mother’s Day as my mom is deceased and I have no children. But being retired for 8 years, every day still feels like a holiday.

    1. I can so relate to your comment. My mom is gone and I have no children. I am retired ten years and every day feels like a weekend. Ah… what a blessing!

    2. Jan and Beverly, I couldn’t agree more and it is a blessing that we feel like every day is the weekend! Enjoy your day?

  10. I’m so glad you had a wonderful Mother’s day! And as always, your photos are beautiful.
I, too, I would love to see a picture of what Kasi bought for you, and then the planter when you’ve added the small plants you bought yesterday, please. You give us all so many great ideas!!

A belated Happy Mother’s Day to you, Brenda!

P.S.—I’m delighted for you that Greg comes three times a week. Didn’t know he comes that often. And happy for all he does for you!

  11. It sounds like you had a really nice Mother’s day. I’m so glad you got to see both of your girls, and grandkids. Sounds like your grandson was home from college. That must have been a treat to spend some time with him too. Getting together becomes much harder for families, once the kids move out and start their own lives.
What kind of plant did Kasi buy you? That was the perfect gift for you. Picture? I had a nice, stay at home day. I got to see my son’s family. They brought lunch. It’s too hard to go out, as it’s the busiest day of the year for restaurants. But we had a lovely visit and a delicious lunch. It was a perfect day.

  12. Sounds like you had a very nice Mother’s Day. We are just beginning to plant here in the midwest. Mother’s Day here in Illinois is usually when we can begin to plant outdoors. Spent the day with my two girls and grand girls and SIL’s and it was really nice. Have a good week.
