Pet Fountain & Other Trivial Matters
Ivy is laying on the narrow table next to my chair thumping her tail. She’s irritated because she wants me to stop typing this in order to pet her.
I ordered a pet water fountain for Ivy that arrived yesterday. It features running water, which she prefers, but she hasn’t taken to it yet.
Freezing Bananas For Smoothies:
I’ve been freezing bananas in thirds on a cookie sheet since my groceries came yesterday. I ordered a lot of bananas!
I wait till they freeze, then I slip them into a baggy to keep for smoothies.
Recently I looked up how much fiber bananas have in them. One banana a day provides 10% of your daily fiber requirement.
But guess what fruit gives you the most fiber? Raspberries, at 8 grams per cup.
I recall about a year ago my doctor telling me that, from looking at my lab work, I wasn’t getting enough potassium. But surely I’m getting enough now.
I didn’t realize how much I’d missed making and having smoothies. But then I got this smoothie maker and began regularly having them again. They can be a great source of protein and other nutrients.
What I’m Watching On Netflix:
I’m still watching “Wentworth,” the series about a women’s prison in Australia. It really is a good show.
The show focuses not only on the female prisoners but also on the lives of those who work there. The head honcho is called “governor.”
One of the previous governors is somewhat of a psychopath and ends up being a prisoner. Oh, but she is sly, calculating, and manipulative!
There is a total of 100 episodes! Not many TV series have that long of a run.
What I’m Reading:
Last night I began reading another one of Lisa Scottoline’s novels. It’s called “One Perfect Lie.”
I took to the book right away when the principal of the school came into her office on a knee scooter.
Now, how many books are you going to stumble across with someone wearing a walking boot and using a knee scooter?
I felt real compassion for the character.

I didn’t know that about raspberries, which I do eat fairly often. Wentworth looks like something I should add to my list. We’re watching Only Murders In The Building on Hulu with Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez. It’s wonderful!
Clementine loves her running water pet fountain (looks like yours, but ours is round), but Monkey always preferred drinking out of a bowl and ignored the fountain. You never know what cats will like! 😉
You’re right about that!
You definately have something in common with that book character, lol! How did your last book turn out? I was hoping you’d review it, as I’m too chicken to read it myself. I’ve been enjoying Heartland. Almost to season 7. It’s so good! You should try adding some benefiber to your smoothies. That, in addition to your fruits, should give you a good fiber boost, although you might want to be careful. Too much might give you diarrhea. Best to add it in slowly. That water fountain for Ivy is neat. Hopefully she’ll warm up to it. Then you don’t have to drip your tub faucet.
Okay, I’ll add a book review to my post.
Ivy’s water fountain is very interesting! I’d forgotten that she enjoys running water.
I’ve got to jump on the smoothie bandwagon. I know I would enjoy making and drinking them. I’m so glad you’ve shared how much you’ve been enjoying them. Frozen bananas with frozen strawberries equals BIG YUM. LOL
Have a terrific day, Brenda!
Yes, they are very tasty. And it’s a way to get a lot of protein in one fell swoop.
Interesting kitty/pet water tray Brenda.
It takes a lot to keep it going. Like a swimming pool!! 😄
Would love to try one out for our pups. 🐶 🐶
Unsure what they would do to it.
Stacey is always trying to bury things by her stainless water bowl. Gets nervous.
Especially when she hears loud sounds or noises.
I haven’t been reading much these past few years.
Could be my sore eyes.
I have dry eyes, and since I read a lot I have to use those artificial tears.
Brenda, I think it’s time for me to check out Lisa Scottoline’s books. She lives fairly close by here, near Philly. I don’t know if you are aware that she writes a column, Chick Wit, which is SO funny and speaks well to those of us of a certain age. Lisa is 67. Just search her name and check out her column of September 25. It’s titled Lucky Break.
Oh really?
Very cool.
I enjoy reading blogs & columns suggested by us ladies.
Will definitely check it out.
Thanks 😊
Oh thanks! I’ll check that out.
Brenda,
Also by Lisa Scottoline,”After Anna” really great book with a twist,I don’t usually reread books, unless “It’s to Kill a Mockingbird”… and I listened to this one several times!!!!I’m an audiobook lover.
I believe I’ve read that one, but I’ll go check and see. I haven’t gone the audiobook route yet. I think I’d get restless.
