Pretty Flowers & Dental Woes

Today I’ve got pretty flowers to show you from my container gardens, along with a few recent dental woes.

Yesterday I went to the dentist to work on getting my second crown. But when they went into the tooth, the dentist said it was “unsalvageable.” He said it was not worth putting a crown on it.

He said it would need to be pulled. And I’d have to go to an oral surgeon.

In Pretty Flowers & Dental Woes, this is my container of hydrangeas

I asked why couldn’t he just pull it. He said I would have to be put under for this one. Oh joy.

He patched it up as best he could but said not to chew over on that side if possible. Apparently the tooth is cracked pretty badly.

So I guess going to an oral surgeon is my next step before getting my next crown.

I told him I don’t have dental insurance. He said it doesn’t really matter. Because they don’t like to take dental insurance for oral surgery any more.

He said they don’t get paid enough from insurance companies to make it worth their while.

Pretty Flowers:

Here is a photo of Ron and Pat’s hibiscus plant. They get beautiful hibiscus plants every year.

The photo below is from Lynn’s garden. I gave her the space and the galvanized containers for her to plant as she wished.

Lynn has planted quite a few flowers over there. I’ll take photos and keep showing them to you. Off the top of my head, I can’t recall what these flowers are called.

Do any of you know what they are? It will probably come to me tomorrow or the next day.

Here’s my yellow petunias. I just love them! They make me smile every time I go outside and see them.

My Sweet Ivy:

In Pretty Flowers & Dental Woes, this is a photo of Ivy laying on the floor looking up at me

And of course a photo of my sweet beloved Ivy. You couldn’t find a better companion than Ivy. She’s so precious and funny and cute.

By the way, if any of you have questions about what’s going on here, email me. I can no longer discuss the matter here. I’ll only discuss it via email.

  1. Brenda, maybe you could apply for a Care Credit card. I have one and have used it for dental and hearing aides. I also use it at the vets office.

Well, sometimes we have to just do some things for our health, Brenda. Before I got my last tooth pulled, I ended up with an abcess, and the last couple weeks waiting my turn for surgery, developed 2 smaller abcesses on top of the first one. I have felt a LOT better since…I should have gotten it taken out much earlier but there is a lot of games to be played before you ever sit in the dentist chair. I have to have mine pulled being put to sleep…always end up having to drill them out. I have only lost bottom teeth so maybe yours is on the bottom too? I think it is harder to deal with bottom teeth maybe. I was only asleep maybe 10-15 minutes. But you are a bit dippy for the rest of the day and should not be alone. I ended up having to pay the biggest part of the surgery. I felt that because of the abcesses, ALL of it should have been covered just like when you have to have your gall bladder out or something. When it is not done for looks or some unnecessary reason, why not? Wishing you the best in this matter too.

  3. So many people nowadays walk across the border to Los Algodones, Mexico for dental work. This border town, across from Arizona, is actually famous for dental tourism. Money-wise, even after paying for gas or a short plane hop, might be worth your while. There are plenty of You-Tube videos about this little Mexican town.
Following from the Internet: “Some of the dental clinics even offer free transportation for their patients from the border to their clinics. You don’t need a passport if you are crossing by land and only traveling within the “Free Zone,” the area between the border and approximately 12 to 18 miles from the border.” Best of luck, Brenda.

  4. Beautiful flowers!

Sorry to hear about your dental woes. Last time I had to go to an oral surgeon (to get a root canal – about 6-7 years ago), they took my dental insurance. Of course, I had to pay a good amount of that. If you’re on Medicare and don’t have a dental plan, then yeah, it’s pretty awful. My mom has been having to have a ton of dental work done and because it’s so expensive, she’s been going to a dental school. Do you perhaps have one in your area?

  5. Sorry about your dental woes. 😕 I’m interested in following what’s going on with your apartment delemna and if you find a place to buy! I’ve been following you since the little blue house!

  6. Brenda,

I would like your email too. The flower is coreopsis.

  7. Elizabeth@pineconesandacorns says:

Brenda, I am sorry about your dental woes. I have several relatives and friends who are dentists and they all say that dental insurance is a joke. They are paid peanuts and the insurance company does not want to pay for the things that need to be done.
As suggested above, ask about a payment plan.
I love seeing all of your flowers!

  8. I think it looks like gaillardia, or blanket flower. Where do I find your email address?

    1. It’s a Coreopsis variety, sometimes called Tickseed

  9. All the flowers are so pretty! I especially like the purple hydrangea. Ivy is so adorable. What a sweet little companion you have there. 💕

    1. PS- Sorry about your dental woes. If they don’t take insurance because they don’t get reimbursed enough, are they willing to work out a payment plan with you?

  10. Briana from Texas says:

I don’t remember what the common name is for Lynn’s flowers, but my field guide of Texas wildflowers calls it Plains Coreopsis, Calliopsis.

    1. Those yellow and red blossoms…wow! Your photo is amazing!
Ivy…too precious for words. I’m done.

      1. Ooops! Posted in wrong place!

    2. I’m pretty sure it’s coreopsis.
