This post is just about random stuff going on in my life, to catch you up on things. Really mundane things actually. My life isn’t terribly exciting.
Yesterday I went to Fedex and mailed the camera back. It had so many features it boggled my mind. Plus I couldn’t get it to focus.
There’s something to be said for simple. Who on earth would need all those features? It was terribly confusing. It’s hard for this old dog to learn new tricks.

So I’m attempting to do what everyone else in the industrialized world does: Use my iPhone for photos.
I feel the same way about newer cars. Kendra told me I probably couldn’t handle the newer cars because they make lots of beeps and such. She may be right.
I’m thinking about buying a used car at some point. I don’t know how many more times Greg can tape my right fender back and have it hold.
Tooth Extraction:
On Wednesday Kasi took me to get my back tooth extracted at the orthodontist. It went very well. He sat in the chair, pushed something into my vein, and I don’t recall a thing.
I didn’t even have pain. That day I only took two Tylenol capsules.
The pain began several days later. I shouldn’t say pain. Really it was just discomfort.

It sure feels strange having that big tooth gone. It’s the second tooth in the upper back of my mouth.
However I had two cavities filled last week, and now I don’t get food stuck in my teeth. The dentist said he had to drill up in my gums to remove all of what I guess was the cavity. So my mouth was sore for a few days. Then two days later, I had the tooth extraction.
I sure am spending an awful lot of money on my teeth. I’m probably going to spend at least $10,000 this year on dental work
That’s if I get a bridge or something to fill that missing tooth. I find that my tongue wants to curl around the small tooth that is next to the gap. I’ve never had to have a tooth taken out before. A whole new experience.
Sometimes you don’t realize what you’ve got until it isn’t there anymore.
I’m not feeling well today. Kind of nauseous and disoriented. Maybe it’s the heat. I don’t go out in it much.
Life At Home:
I’m watching “Bloodline” on Netflix for the second time. I’ve been re-watching quite a few series I’ve previously watched lately.
I forget what happened in these shows, so sometimes I’m surprised or have just a faint memory of watching it the first time.

I’m reading “The Surgeon” by Leslie Wolfe. It starts with this female heart surgeon performing surgery on a male. She can’t see the patient’s face because of the sheet that is blocking part of his body as she operates.
But when she does see his face, she recognizes him. And not in a pleasant way.
The man dies on the table. He did some terrible things to her and her family.
Did she try hard enough to resuscitate him, she keeps asking herself? She isn’t sure whether she did or not.

I agree with you about everything having a boatload of features. Which is another reason why nothing lasts anymore because there are so many things that can go wrong. My learning curve is spent figuring out how to disable most of them.
Hope you feel better.
Good job expressing what we in our age group face!! I have had 3 molars taken out the past few years…not easy to chew but still ok. I just do the best I can to take care of the ones left. I have to be put to sleep to have mine done as they always have to drill them out. You do learn to chew differently…takes awhile. Well, we stick to mostly easy to chew things now. Soups are more appealing etc. We are far from thin so no worries on that count. Stay safe from the heat…it has hit here now too. But many years in the past, it came even by April so this has been ok year.
My air conditioning has gone out. Over the weekend of course. Started not putting out cool air yesterday.
That is terrible…is there anyone you can call? Seems it would be possible to call repairman yourself and apts have to pay for it. That is dangerous in that hot climate…do take care of yourself!! Stay with a daughter if you have to…be careful!!
Oh no!! Brenda, thatโs terrible! Especially since the weather has been so hot lately! Do you have fans to help circulate the air? Mine went out recently too. I had 3 fans in our bedroom. One blowing on me, one on my husband, and a 3rd one at the foot of the bed. It was a miserable nights sleep! Maybe a personal mister would help too, while you sit by a fan. Drink lots of water and maybe take cool showers and make sure to blow a fan on you. You donโt want a heat stroke! I hope they come fix it ASAP!
I hate all the new technology too. It hurts my brain trying to figure things out. Just when you get used to something and feel competent in it, they change things up. Itโs so frustrating. Iโd rather things just be simple. I use my cell phone for all my pictures. Thatโs one of the nice things about the cell phone cameras there days. They are pretty simple to use and they take pretty good quality pictures. Iโm sorry about all your necessary dental work. You donโt want to risk an infection getting in your blood stream though. It is pretty frustrating about the insurance. Mine covers so little, itโs basically useless. I didnโt know dental hygienists made house calls. Thatโs a great idea. I agree about keeping your car if itโs running well. I had to duct tape my bumper too. It looked silly, but I didnโt care as long as it still ran. I donโt remember what brand I got at Home Depot, but it stuck so well, I never had to redo it. As for plants outside, what about planting plants that donโt require much water and like heat? The book sounds pretty interesting. In that situation, Iโd probably be asking myself the same question. I hope you feel better. Stay hydrated and get plenty of rest.
It annoys me big-time at how all the new technology makes everything that used to be simple uber-complicated. Too much to wrap my head around all the time. Phones, TV’s, appliances–even doorbells–are all stupidly complicated! And don’t suggest I have one of those Alexis things! I don’t want some computer talking to me all the time. Do I sound old and curmudgeonly? Guess I am! I don’t know–it seems like all the technology doesn’t really improve our lives that much. It’s often just a big source of frustration to me. Probably takes years off my life trying to deal with it! That’s my rant for today. Hope you feel better soon, Brenda. We just have to take deep breaths and do the best we can, not letting the frustration with the world and the way it is supposed to work get to us. Hope you all are having a peaceful and relaxed weekend.
Hang in there Brenda. I agree with everything new not being simple enough for me. Hot here too. I am staying inside with the blinds closed. Thanks goodness for air conditioning. I am just watering the pots on the front and back porches. I made it simple by doing less plants and decor outside. I do still love to use the clothesline. Hope you are feeling better. Stay cool and hydrated.
I had to do simple outside this year. Easier to water.
A fender is just a cosmetic fix. Keep your car if it works good because you might get a lemon next time. And that would be more headaches. I’m normally not risk averse but my last car was a course in frustration! Just barely made it to pay-off. I’ll never buy American-made again. I’d really prefer not to hassle with owning one again but it’s a necessity where I live. Thanks for the recent review of the plant waterer/sprayer. I will be in the market for one soon, I hope. As to tooth loss, unless its cosmetically necessary, I wouldn’t worry about the tooth. You’ll adapt. I’m fearing needing dentures but 70. I was depressed about it then realized getting old is not for sissies so I womaned up. LOL
“Womaned up.” I like that!
Hope that you are feeling better soon Brenda.
We just got a new camera, and it is so complicated. I am turning it over to my husband. I will, like you stick to my camera and my iPhone.
Stay cool, the heat is brutal.
There were so many settings on that darned phone that I’d try to figure out one which would lead me to another and then I was lost.
For the life of me, I can’t understand why dentists are so expensive. One day I realized that one dental cap cost more than an entire year’s worth of doctor’s visits, lab costs, and prescriptions on Medicare. I have one bridge, which I desperately hate. Food always, always get stuck underneath at every meal. I did a quick calculation of my life’s dental costs–I could have purchased a luxury car from the cost of all the root canals and caps. Nowadays, I pay $180 for a dental hygienist to come to my house for cleaning.
I’ve never heard of a dental hygienist going to your home. I’ll have to look into that. Dental costs are terribly expensive, and they don’t like to take insurance.
They are so expensive due to what they most likely paid to go to college, staff they employ, insurance to pay if God forbid something happens to a patient and they are sued (Iโm in Australia), not a dentist. Have a relative that is a dentist and one that is a doctor and once you see all they go through re the studying, overtime hours worked that they are not paid for when starting out etc. I donโt begrudge what they charge. Different perspective.
Oh, how I detest having to visit the dentist. My mouth automatically clamps shut and says “No, no and no”. LOL
Our temps have been above 100 but it’s a little cooler today. Last Sunday I went to pick up my groceries and while unloading here at home I got overheated and thought I was going to pass out. My daughter suggested I have my groceries delivered, at least through the summer. Definitely something to seriously consider. I stay indoors with the blinds closed.
Enjoy the rest of the week end.
I love having groceries, and basically everything else, delivered. Look into InHome with Walmart. Well worth it.
I have a hard time with all this new technology. Had to buy another car because the other one was so old. Could not get my head around turning it on without a key!
I don’t have a cell phone and don’t want one but that seems to be a problem when dealing with the bank etc. I did overcome it and now they will call my home phone!
Hope you are feeling better soon Brenda.
The older I get, the less I seem able to retain new information. Especially when it comes to technology.
