What I’m Reading & Watching On BritBox
I am currently watching “Shetland” on BritBox, and I just love this show! I’ve already told myself I may just have to watch it twice, because that Jimmy Perez is hot.
“Shetland” features characters from the novels by award-winning crime writer Ann Cleeves. “Shetland” follows DI Jimmy Perez and his team as they investigate crime within the close-knit island community.
What I’m Currently Reading:
This week I’ve been reading “Big Summer” by Jennifer Weiner.
Author Jennifer Weiner has built a career writing female-friendly, relationship-oriented fiction. A genre also called “chick lit.”
Book Summary:
Six years after the fight that ended their friendship, Daphne Berg is shocked when Drue Cavanaugh walks back into her life. She is looking as lovely and successful as ever, with a massive favor to ask.
Daphne hasn’t spoken one word to Drue in all this time. She doesn’t even hate-follow her ex-best friend on social media. So when Drue asks if she will be her maid-of-honor at her big society wedding, Daphne is rightfully speechless.
Drue was always the one who had everything. Except the ability to hold onto friends. Drue had a mean streak.
Meanwhile, Daphne’s no longer the same self-effacing sidekick she was back in high school. She’s built a life that she loves, including a growing career as a plus-size Instagram influencer.
Letting glamorous, seductive Drue back into her life is risky. But Drue begs and pleads and manages to reel her in. Daphne finds herself as powerless as ever to resist her friend’s siren song.
This is a sparkling novel about the complexities of female relationships. Also the pitfalls of living out loud and online and the resilience of the human heart.

What I’m Watching On BritBox:
I quickly fell in love with the BritBox series, “Shetland.” I’m just about finished watching Season 5.
And I’m very much looking forward to the release of Season 6. However Covid 19 has currently thrown a wrench into the production of Season 6.
At present, there’s no official premiere date for Season 6 of Shetland. Seasons six and seven will film in 2020 and 2021 in Shetland and locations around Scotland.
With a filming date sometime in 2020, it’s reasonable to expect the Season 6 premiere sometime in early 2021. Hopefully anyway for all of us “Shetland” fans.
another one you might like. Scott and Bailey. Two female cops who are friends and allies. Great cop drama.
I just finished this book and adored it. One of my favorite authors!
I love BritBox and Acorn.
I have also been watching “Shetland”
And Love it.
Right now we are surrounded by fires and on stage 2 alert so not much to do except housework and watch movies and read. Air quality is poor so have to stay inside.
Look forward evermorning to reading your blog.
Hugs to Charlie and Ms Ivy.

I LOVE Shetland… a suggestion I got from your blog. We only have one season left and I’m going to miss it… good to know that there will be new seasons coming at some point. The characters in British TV seem more relatable than American TV. Just normal people living their lives. I also have been watching “Line of Duty” on Brit Box. Quite good and a little more suspenseful than “Shetland” with a lot of twist and turns. I’ve also noticed British TV doesn’t always have happy endings. Some how also the violence seems rather toned down and I prefer that too. Cheers! (they say that a lot on Brit Box… LOL)
I loved Shetland. You all should give Vera a try. Same solid plots, moody settings and great acting. Not Scotland, but northern England.
LOVE Vera!
I truthfully had no idea how beautiful Scotland was until I watched Shetland. I have thoroughly enjoyed how the characters intermesh.
You and me both!
I’ve only seen the first two seasons of Shetland. Really liked it, particularly how the scenery added to the mystery and moodiness of the drama. The book sounds interesting because I’ve been baffled since junior high with how some of my female friends have to be the top friend, or the leader, and everyone else is expected to be their sidekick or follower. Sounds like part of the theme of this book, so that could be insightful.
This sounds like a good read. I wonder if that series is on any of the other channels. We get netflix and hulu. Have a good day.
I’m interested in hearing what you think of Big Summer.Huge fan of Jennifer Warner but this one fell short for me,was quite excited when it came out too.
Well I started out really liking it. But it’s gotten kind of tedious.
