I decided to create homemade vintage jar lid ornaments for my Christmas tree.

Do you remember the old distressed window with glass panes I had hanging on the wall with vintage children’s images in it? It fell and broke.

So, without the decorative window to hang on the wall, I was left with the photos from it. I decided to recycle some of those photos for my jar lid ornaments.

I used vintage images printed from the internet for my homemade vintage jar lid ornaments.

Directions:

I took a jar lid and a pencil and drew around the outside of the first image I wanted to use. Then I laid down sheets of waxed paper because I was going to be using Mod Podge, and it can get messy.

Round inside portion of the jar lids.

I took the round portion of the inner part of the lid and laid it over all the images. Then I drew a circle around the outline and cut around it with scissors. This gave me my round vintage image to use inside the jar lid.

For my homemade vintage jar lid ornaments, these are the images I cut out in circles.

With a foam brush, I applied decoupage glue to the backs of the images and pressed the round images inside the jar lids. Then I let the jar lids dry.

Tying a jute hanger around the lip of the lid for hanging on the tree.

I used jute as a hanger for hanging the homemade jar lid ornaments on the Christmas tree.

Once everything was dry, I wrapped the jute/ribbon around the lid edges and made a double knot. I did this with all the homemade vintage jar lid ornaments.

The finished homemade vintage jar lid ornaments.

What You Will Need For This Project:

1. Mason jar lids
2. Foam brushes
3. Mod Podge
4. A sharp pencil
5. Ribbon or jute
6. Vintage images (I printed mine off the internet)
8. Scissors

Here is my tabletop Christmas tree with the homemade vintage jar lid ornaments when I plugged in the tree lights.

I also hung candy canes and other ornaments from last year on the Christmas tree.
