The Red & White Chicken & Weekend Entertainment

The little red and white chicken landed here. I knew exactly where it would go when I put it in my cart at the antique mall.

It seems to belong in my open kitchen shelves.

I’m now reading “Where The Crawdads Sing” by Delia Owens. It is a remarkably well written book and I highly suggest reading it.

Book Summary:

For years, rumors of the “Marsh Girl” have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast.

So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home. Where she finds friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Then the time comes when she yearns to be touched and loved. Two young men from town become intrigued by her wild beauty. And Kya opens herself to a new life–until the unthinkable happens.

Now Watching On BritBox:

I’m now watching “Moving On”

This series of stand-alone contemporary dramas set in Britain follow characters experiencing some form of change in their lives.

The series explores complex issues from addiction and infidelity, to depression and financial struggles. It explores the life of a soldier’s wife to the pain of a loved one lost.

Lies that should never have been spoken to truths that are hard to hear. All linked by a common theme of characters who reach a turning point in life.

  1. I have heard nothing but high praise from friends who have read this book and also American Dirt which they tell me is Equally as good. Nice to have some good books to read this winter in case I am in more so I bought the Crawdad book recently.

  2. Thank you for the recommendations…while I papercraft, I like to watch BritBox, etc. so I am looking forward to Moving On, and it has several seasons. I just finished Ratched on Netflix…it is quirky, gory, likable in some places, wonderful colors, strong female characters…couldn’t stop watching it even though it is somewhat weird. Nurse Ratched is the nurse from One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. It manages to capture the late 40’s and 50’s with the cars, dress, and an old cigarette machine in a strange little tourist court.

  3. The sweet red and white chicken was meant to come home with you. It’s a perfect spot in your kitchen.

I read Where the Crawdads Sing and I thought it was a fabulous book. You should consider reading American Dirt. I haven’t read it yet but a friend highly recommended it.

    Enjoy your day!

  4. I loved “Crawdads”…..very intriguing and satisfying ending ahead for you!
I think my grandma had one of those charming little chicken dishes! Wish I’d found it when we settled her estate.

  5. The red and white chicken looks great on the kitchen shelf! Where The Crawdads Sing book sounds very interesting. I will go on Amazon and order it today. Thanks for reviewing it!
