Working With Blog Graphics
When I get a bit more time, I’ll write the post on working with blog graphics that you asked me to write.
Right now I’m working with graphics and scenes much of the day until I look up and suddenly it’s dark outside!
Well, I do take bathroom breaks, eat, and play with Ivy. Ivy will meow a little and then crawl all over my chair and stare at me until I at least get up from the chair.
Sometimes she wants more dry cat food in her bowl.
It’s hard for me to stop once I get going. There really is no urgency.
It’s more my personality that keeps my momentum going. And I think it’s fun working with blog graphics.
This Blog Header I Made Working With Blog Graphics:
Did you notice the additions I made to this blog header a few days ago?
I added some graphics that weren’t formerly there along with the new graphic I commissioned of Ivy.
I’m steadily working on the Cozy Little Book Nook header. I came up with the one below yesterday and worked for hours and hours on it.
However I can now see that it’s too detailed for a blog header. So I’ll start over again.
Here is the one I created yesterday for Cozy Little Book Nook that I’ve decided is way to detailed and busy.
I can’t just tweak the original one. With graphics you have to start all over and download them again.
I wanted to add a warm throw, which is in the basket above.
And I also like the idea of the book shelf, so I may put that on the other side or something.
I Mainly Purchase Etsy Shop Graphics:
This is the graphic of the chair that I purchased from an Etsy shop a long time ago that I’m using on the book blog.
I do like supporting small businesses like Etsy shop owners.
This is the header that is currently on there…
Some of you said that you couldn’t see Ivy as well in this one. So in the other more detailed header I tried to do that, but I don’t know that it helped much.
Some of you also mentioned adding a warm throw.
I’m all about Ivy and house plants and books and cozy settings. But it’s hard to figure out which image/graphics are more important.
There is a candle glowing on the fireplace mantel.
Lots of house plants. Ivy of course. Books are prominent. A warm throw in a basket.
I have the mug of hot chocolate next to the chair. You probably can’t see it. But the mug has a cat on it.
Here is a larger image of the mug with the cat on it.
That cat mug graphic was a must once I saw it.
Well, back to work. Greg will be coming some time today for physical therapy.
Other than that, I’ll be working on the other blog for the most part.
Thank you for your Working With Blog Graphics
Wow, I had no idea how much effort is involved in creating the kind of “header” images you use. Very tiring, too, especially concentrating so hard for hours and before you know it, it’s dark outside. I’ll stick with using my own photos or free online stock images to put collages together, as I don’t have the skills or patience you do, Brenda. Whatever images/design you finally settle upon, it will be lovely, I’m sure.
It is hard to see Ivy on the left side of the fireplace. Her image seems to compete with the plant. Maybe move her the right side where the slippers are or on the rug with the chair where her color would stand out more. It’s amazing what you do with these graphics. I would never in a million years have the patience that you do to accomplish this. Looking forward to your new blog.
Good work! However, my question is why do you have a floor lamp and a lantern (in the window) both? And so close together?
My style is a little different from yours, but just looking at your graphics and your comments about wanting something warm, I’m wondering about a warm background (wall) color. Just a thought.
I love it! So cozy….you have definitely achieved the right feel!
Oh I LOVE the new blog header ideas you shared today! I especially liked the 2nd one, as it was a little less busy. Less is more, right? I can’t wait to see what you decide upon! I think this is just as much fun for us as it is for you, haha!
You’re very talented, that header is really fits what your book blog is all about. Maybe if you changed the color of the brick on the fireplace Ivy would stand out more. If you’re wanting a throw, how about over the back of the chair? Just my thoughts.
I’ve always admired how generous you are with “inside info” on how blogs are operated. My own was never intended to make money, but if I’d been so inclined, I sensed that most others established in the business would never take the time to share what they’ve learned. It’s just part of your gentle, caring spirit that you offer what you do!
I like the blog header that doesn’t include what’s to the left of Ivy. I think that cabinet and plants don’t carry the colors of the rest of your design and the extra items are what make that scene too busy. I join others in not wanting Ivy to fade away, so how about exchanging her for the slippers, placing the basket with cozy throw in her place, and bringing the slippers next to the stack of books by the chair!? But in the end, I’ll approve of whatever your labor of love produces!
I’ve always thought that if you have information, then you should share it.
Well, I know NOTHING about this subject, but I wonder if you just moved Ivy a bit more to the right, so that some of the fireplace center is covered by her, but the more intense colors would show her up more…just a thought…may not be possible.
I just finished another version.
I always say happy hands, happy heart and you are in your element designing and figuring out what styles you want to see as your header as well as your readers. I’d say you are enjoying all this delivery of a blog worthy of your extraordinary efforts and I applaud you for the hard work.
We will all be certainly as excited as you to see it post for us all to read.
I love all the things that go into it. I’m very detail-oriented.
Your new header is so cute and so YOU!! I love it all. What program are you using to put it together? When I make mine, I put a few things in, then save it. Then I can add to it, but the basic design is always there to play with. I only use free programs, like Gimp, Ipiccy and Print master. Would love to know what you use. I too love buying graphics from Etsy. Marilyn
I use Picmonkey. I’m more comfortable with it than any other program I’ve tried.
This is such a revelation to me – a wonderful view into what goes into your work. I can well imagine how engrossing it is and how you lose count of time doing it. Ivy girl will keep you grounded, I’m sure. LOL!
Thanks for all the insight into your creating such a wonderful blog.
Building a blog and working with graphics is very time consuming but I love it.
It just struck me that maybe helping others (or doing it for them) build their blogs would be a good source of income for you. And a bonus that you love doing it.
Thanks for the links you posted in your reply to me yesterday. I’ll check them out and hope they make it all less muddy!
You’re very welcome. I’m happy to help.
I am glad the pain medicine is helping and you are having fun with your new blog. I love the addition of the hummingbird and the book header is so inviting. Great job.
I have to try to stop myself from adding too many things!
I did notice the change in the blog header right away…it is adorable…so is the other one you are working on…did not see the cat on the mug..it is very light but sure cute. My new kitten continues to thrive and has a great personality and loves our little dogs…we are so lucky 💕
I’m so glad, Yvonne! I miss my little Gracie.
That header contains a variety of things that represent you so I like it very much. Ironically, I spotted the mug on the side table almost immediately and it make me smile. 🙂
I didn’t know that there were Etsy shops that sold blog graphics.
Spending your day, working for hours, on something you truly enjoy is exactly what I do. Once I put that threaded needle in my hand or sit at my sewing machine, I completely lose track of time. I don’t sit at my sewing machine as often as I once did. Instead, I embrace a variety of handwork projects. The list is long, but it keeps me at peace.
Enjoy every minute of your day!
Oh, how I miss sitting and sewing. You’re right. It is peaceful and you feel like you’re getting things done and it is just blissful. I’m glad I made quite a few quilts when I was in my 30s because I sure couldn’t do it now!
I would love to see all the quilts you have made.
I’ll get around to showing them all when I can walk better.
