A Quiet September Sunday
It’s a very quiet September Sunday morning here. Just before I got up I heard the ducks fly overhead squawking like they do.
Ivy, sleeping on one of the quilt stacks, raised her head, trying to figure out what that noise was.
Now that she’s had her morning meal she’s up on the cupboard watching for birds.
Last night I ate the last of the tuna casserole I made last week. I could have stretched it to four meals. But I was going to have to freeze one and my freezer is already full.
I ate it with brussel sprouts, sweet potato fries and cornbread.
When I cook cornbread, I fix Ivy her own little plate because she adores cornbread.
Ivy Eating Preferences:
The two things Ivy is crazy about is cornbread and turkey bacon. Sometimes I’ll eat breakfast for supper and then Ivy gets a bit of turkey bacon.
I think tonight I’m going to be cooking the crustless quiche with broccoli recipe I online.
Then maybe I’ll have a cold bean salad with it since I don’t have other salad fixings like lettuce.
What I’ve Read & Am Reading:
I finished reading Stephen King’s “Billy Summers” yesterday. I then began a book my daughter Kasi brought me along with lunch on Friday. That book is “The Guest List” by Lucy Foley.
A wedding celebration turns dark and deadly in this deliciously wicked and atmospheric thriller reminiscent of Agatha Christie. From Lucy Foley, the New York Times bestselling author of The Hunting Party.
I read a good bit of it last night. My hands have been doing too much and typing is the worst for my fingers and joints. So I’ve been reading part of the day as well as before bed.
I’ll be so glad when it cools off so I can open the curtains and have light instead of darkness in here.

Brenda, good evening! I hope you had a great day with Ivy. I LOVE crustless quiche and make it all of the time. I can’t wait to hear about the one you are making.
The Guest list sounds interesting, I will have to check it out.
By the way, have you applied to be an Amazon Influencer? I know that you have many followers and I think you may be eligible for that as well.
Enjoy reading your blog. I love the crystal lamp, May I ask where you got?
Sure. It’s just a cheapie from Tuesday Morning. I paid $21 for lamp base and shade.
Good Afternoon Brenda,
In the Pacific Northwest, we hear the Canada Geese honking as they do their flying over. Our Alder trees in the pastures are starting to shed their leaves and the top of the maple closest to the house is starting to turn yellow.
I soaked part of a pkg. of 15 Bean soup last night. This morn. it’s simmering with a ham hock and other veggies. I have started to bake apples and am doing a version of apple butter in the slow cooker. When shopping for biscuits, I found Cornbread swirls from Pillsbury. Just enough for husband and me and our dog, Lucy. She LOVES pretty much everything that is baked or toasted; ESPECIALLY RYE BREAD with BUTTER!
Have a peaceful day.
That’s so funny that Ivy likes those two foods! Have a great Sunday, Brenda!
Do you make your own cold bean salad with various beans? I know of one person who does that by assembling beans, celery, onions, oil, vinegar and sugar in a big bowl, then puts it in small canning jars to eat for a couple weeks to add to top off her green salad.
I usually just open a can that’s already mixed beans.
