This is my book review of On the Inside by Kim Cano.
She didn’t know what she stood to lose – until hope was all she had left.

Author: Kim Cano
Book Title: On The Inside
Genre: Women’s Fiction

Book Summary:
Kristin was living her dream scenario, with a husband and children, and a career.
Then she fudged some numbers at work to get a few bills paid, and ended up a white-collar criminal.
When Kristen is sentenced to seventeen years for committing a white-collar crime, she’s forced to leave her husband and two sons behind. She’s sent to a women’s prison, full of drug dealers and murderers.
Life in prison is a shock. She discovers that people aren’t always what they seem, love wears many faces, and friendship can make life worth living.
But as she struggles to survive on the inside, Kristen must face something even more frightening than her fellow inmates: herself.
But there are random acts of kindness, too. Friendships form, and people fall in love. Her sister-in-law’s letters keep Kristin updated on the family. She hopes for a second chance and wants to find a way to forgive herself.

My Review:
The female characters in this book are varied. There are women who work at the prison, along with several prisoners who also work there.
The premise of this book is what is happening in these women’s lives over the years. Women come and go, and new friendships are forged.
The author does a great job with the transition between characters. The voices were genuine and unique.
