  1. Wow, I checked out the link to fall mantel decorations and it took me to Uptowngirl. What a great display of mantels, just gorgeous. I could look at them all day. There were a couple that used the brown-tone old glass bottles and jugs, reminded me of how you have used similar to decorate your mantel. I have to say though, sometimes I see these gorgeous displays and think of the time it takes to make them just perfect, and these days I just don’t have the get up and go like I used to. We’ve had 4 days of temps above 80 and dew points hovering near 60 or higher. It’s difficult for me to work outdoors in that kind of weather for long stretches of time. We had a warm October last year too. Tomorrow will be a swift and sudden change, if the forecast holds, much more “seasonal” temperatures with night time temps possibly dropping into the 40s in some places. Too cool too soon. My head is spinning. I’ve been slowly cleaning up my garden beds (why did I make so MANY?), sawing branches and limbs off the ornamental cherry (what a work-out), pruning back shrubs, dug out a lot of plantings (including a large spread of wonky looking “ornamental grass” that was in no way ornamental at all) and I’m sore, tired out, and moaning about how much I still have to do. Can’t think of decorating for autumn, but your blog did get me to take down my summer art and put up some autumnal scenes, and switch out the throw pillow covers to more seasonal textures and colors. Guess I’ll go down to basement storage and pull out the AUTUMN box after I take a non-aspirin for my aching arms and shoulders from all the raking, weeding, pulling, pruning, chopping up and cleaning out dead leaves and plants from the garden beds. I don’t know how you can keep your garden up and decorate your house, etc. when you’re essentially on a scooter, you are a Wonder Woman, Brenda.

  2. 2 favorites… the decorated front porches, (especially the purple one!) and the creamed spinach. They closed all the Boston Markets near me, and I really used to love their creamed spinach! I’m so happy to have found this recipe! Thank you!

  3. We try every fall to have a soup and salad night with friends. The salad with the apples looks delicious thinking of perhaps adding to the menu. Thanks Brenda

  4. The photo of the chicken tortilla soup made my mouth water.

  5. Love this post. You always find such great links! Thanks🎃

  6. Oh, the scones, cake, chili, yum! I was so happy a few weeks ago when I found a light tan pumpkin pillow like Robin’s. I have a 40 year old pottery pumpkin on my front porch. I usually get rid of a few seasonal decor items every season and only buy one or two new things a season. I love fall. Enjoy your day!

  7. Brenda , wonderful post!! Must try the chicken tortilla soup…looks yummy. California is moving to Indian summer, warm days, cool nights…as far as I am am concerned, you can never have enough velvet pumpkins, I love nestling them in corners or a fall display. Love your posts……happy Autumn
