Longmire Picked Up By Paramount+

Netflix officially dropped the Longmire series on January 1, 2025, and Paramount+ then picked it up.
There are rumors that the series may be moving closer to announcing a possible season 7. I sure hope so, as I was fully engaged in the Longmire series. But then again, as my grandma would say, I won’t count my chickens before they’re hatched.
Longmire is a Western drama based on the Walt Longmire Mysteries series of novels written by Craig Johnson.
Author Craig Johnson:
Johnson set the novel series Longmire in northern Wyoming, where Longmire is sheriff of the fictional town Absaroka. Johnson has written 18 novels, two novellas, and many short stories featuring Longmire. Some books have been on the New York Times Best Seller list.
Longmire originally aired on A&E Network for three seasons, from 2012 to 2017. The show topped out at 6 million viewers per episode before being canceled by A&E when Warner Bros. refused to sell the brand to the network. It was A&E’s highest-rated original drama series.
According to ScreenRant, Longmire is regarded as one of the best Western shows ever. This begs the question: Why was it canceled? The popularity of Yellowstone may have fueled a resurgence of this type of show.
Paramount+ & Western Dramas:
Paramount+ is becoming the home of contemporary Western dramas. Over the years, it has built up its library of neo-Western shows, such as the Yellowstone series. It’s also home to other modern Westerns like Joe Pickett and Deadwood.
Longmire follows Sheriff Walt Longmire as he investigates crimes in a small Wyoming town. The show explores the challenges of jurisdictional lines between law enforcement teams and the issues faced by Native Americans.
Cassidy Freeman plays his daughter Cady Longmire. Lou Diamond Phillips is Native American saloon owner Henry Standing Bear, Walt Longmire’s longtime friend. A. Martinez plays Jacob Whitehorse. Zahn McClarnon is Mathias, the Chief of Indian Tribal Police of the Cheyenne reservation.
Dark Winds:
Zahn McClarnon plays Joe Leaphorse in the AMC TV series Dark Winds, which is based on Tony Hillerman’s book series.
Before the series’ upcoming Season 3 premiere, AMC Networks announced that it has renewed the critically acclaimed and popular noir drama for a fourth season. A. Martinez, who plays Jacob Lighthorse in Longmire, is also a member of the cast of Dark Winds. He plays the sheriff in Dark Winds.

I LOVED LOVED LOVED Longmire! was so sad when it ended! Id be thrilled if they’d add many more seasons! I’ve already watched the entire series three times! Dark Winds is awesome too. Marilyn
I’ve never watched that show, but it does sound interesting. It’s nice that it got picked up by another network, and that there’s talk of another season. It’s a real bummer when you really like a show, and they end the series. You always want to know whatever happened to the characters’ lives, lol.
