Magnus “Steps” Craig is an FBI agent and a tracker. He is renowned for his ability to find and follow trails over any surface.
His secret is synesthesia, an ability to see whatever a person has touched in a unique color. Steps calls it “shine.” Only a few people know this about him or how he helps solve these crimes.
He and his partner, Special Agent Jimmy Donovan, are sent to El Paso where a killer broke into a judge’s house and left a cooler with someone’s feet inside. This is a pattern for this killer, and they have to track him.
Steps and his team track this killer all over the country, trying to figure out who is doing this and what his motive could possibly be.
They have dubbed him “The Icebox Killer” and his rampage has just begun.
I enjoyed this book. I especially enjoyed the relationship between Steps and Jimmy, which the author fleshed out quite well. They have a unique relationship and it was fun to read about their habits and exploits.
If you like crime fiction and following the clues to the end, you will enjoy this crime thriller.
