The Mason Genie + TV Shows

I spent the morning using the Mason Genie to seal jars of produce for the refrigerator. I’ve had a jar of blueberries in there for about two weeks, and they still look good. In fact, I had some on my oatmeal this morning.

The Mason Genie, if you haven’t heard, is a vacuum sealer kit for food in jars.

I’m happy with the Mason Genie. I’ve only had it for a short time, so I’ll give my thoughts after I’ve had it awhile.

When you live alone, you end up wasting food that goes bad. Anything I can do to save money is something I look into.

Pinched Nerve

Yesterday I was lifting kitty litter and irritated a pinched nerve in my back. In the afternoon, I was so miserable that I messaged my doctor and asked for relief. She prescribed a steroid pack that I picked up.

It hasn’t helped much yet, but it hasn’t been 24 hours. Pinched nerves cause some strange symptoms. On my right foot, no matter what shoes I wear, it feels like there’s a piece of scrunched-up paper under the toes.

I can feel it, and I will take off the shoe to look. But there’s never anything there. So the pinched nerve must be the culprit.

Does anyone have suggestions on how to deal with pinched nerves?

Changing Weather

The weather has shifted here, and that’s such a relief. The heat had been stifling, and we had 13 days of 100-or-more summer heat. This does not mean we won’t have more hot weather.

Oklahoma experienced its hottest September on record, with widespread triple-digit readings that worsened drought conditions.

But October has arrived in these first few days with cooler weather. I’m bidding adieu to my summer plants. I’ll try again in the springtime and hopefully have better luck than I did this year.

What is the weather like where you are currently?

TV Shows I May Watch

I’ve already showed you the books I’m planning on reading, so now I’m going to discuss TV shows.

Has anyone watched any of these shows? They are on my list to check out. By the way, I only pay for Peacock now, so that’s where some of these shows are.

Line of Fire Line is an American family action thriller television series created by Joshua Safran and produced by Universal Television for NBC. The series centers around a family of agents from various branches of federal law enforcement who find themselves tangled in a deadly conspiracy. You can watch this show on NBC/Peacock.

M.I.A. follows Etta Tiger Jonze as she navigates Miami’s dangerous criminal underworld after her family’s drug running business ends in tragedy. It is streaming on Peacock.

Superfakes is set in Chinatown. The plot follows working-class mother (Lucky Liu/Lucy Liu), who starts by selling counterfeit designer products, diving deeper into New York City’s criminal underworld. It is available in 2027, which isn’t far away!

Peacock Channel

Peacock is the dedicated streaming service owned and operated by NBCUniversal, serving as the digital home for NBC shows, live sports, and news. It used to be free.

Current NBC series are available to stream the day after they air on traditional television. I have Peacock Premium.

I subscribed to it at first because I watched Chicago PD and loved it, but could only watch a few seasons. To watch the rest, I had to subscribe to Peacock. I also like the Law & Order shows, which I can watch on Peacock.

What shows do you love and which services do you subscribe to?

  1. So sorry to hear of your pain. I hope the new meds help fast!!it is warm here after a few cooler rainy days. It is so hard to see the perennials come down after all of the color this summer. The flowers beds did great, the veggies not so much. Here in Wi we never know what kind of weather we will have from day to day at this time of year. The colors are really starting to change on the trees. I don’t how much is due to stress or normal.
I hope you feel better soon.

  2. I’m here in Florida and it’s been hot for sure. I woke up a couple mornings where the temperature was nice and cool, but I feel like it still gets super hot during the day. I have Amazon prime and DIRECTV. And then I watch some YouTube, but I don’t pay for the YouTube TV so it’s just whatever normal stuff on YouTube that I can watch. But mostly on DIRECTV I like the Hallmark channels and we are getting into the Christmas movies coming up soon so I’m really looking forward to that. Sorry about your back hurting. A pinched nerve really hurts. I’m so sorry that you are experiencing that. Hopefully the steroids will kick in soon. Otherwise maybe try ibuprofen since that is an anti-inflammatory if you can take it. Otherwise maybe some Tylenol but I think the ibuprofen if you can take that might help a little bit better. I like the picture that you had with the little pumpkin in it. That’s very festive if you put up fall decorations, I can’t wait to see them.

  3. Hope you feel better soon. We are enjoying the comedy/ drama Family Law on Roku. Can you show a picture of your mason genie and explain how it works? We have cut back on over buying due to wasting food. Thanks!

  4. We subscribe to only YouTube TV, and currently to Prime, but only during the national football league season. I’m going to do a year’s worth of shopping on Amazon during the 5ish months we have the Prime membership. I’m not big on shopping so this will be only for essentials that I would have had to order from somewhere anyway.

I chose YouTube TV because it’s very similar to cable tv. My husband struggles with technology so I wanted to find one option that he could understand. I don’t watch a lot of tv but I do love to watch reruns of The Andy Griffith Show.
