Book Summary:
Just outside Stockholm, Mikael Kohler-Frost is found wandering, looking sick and confused. He went missing along with his sister 13 years ago and has already been declared dead.
Authorities thought they were victims of Sweden’s notorious serial killer, Jurek Walter, who is serving a life sentence in a maximum security psychiatric hospital.
Mikael tells his father and police that his sister is still alive. He says they were being held by someone he called “The Sandman.”
Detective Inspector Joona Linna had to send his family away because this serial killer swore he’d find a way to kill them. Unfortunately, Joona’s former partner’s family was killed and his partner ultimately killed himself.
He knows that Jurek is very smart and they won’t get anything out of him about his accomplice on the outside.
So they make the decision to send 27 year old Inspector Saga Bauer into the hospital under cover as a patient to try to find out what she can so they can to try to save Mikael’s sister.
My Review:
I enjoyed this book. The plot was fast moving and kept me turning the pages. I read this book in two evenings.
I do want to read more books by this husband/wife team, because this is the kind of suspenseful novel that keeps me interested till the end.
About The Authors:
Lars Kepler is the pseudonym of critically acclaimed husband and wife team Alexandra Coelho Ahndoril (b. 1966) and Alexander Ahndoril (b. 1967), authors of the No. 1 internationally bestselling Joona Linna series.
With six installments to date, the series has sold twelve million copies in 40 languages.
The Ahndorils were both established writers before they adopted the pen name Lars Kepler, and have each published several acclaimed novels.
Alexander and Alexandra married in 1994 and have three daughters together. They live in central Stockholm.
I read your review and it sounds very interesting. I checked my library’s ebooks and found both text and audio copies are available through the library online. They are both waitlisted, so I put my name on the list for either one – whichever comes first. Thanks for letting us know about this book.
