While I was cleaning I took note of all the things I have contained in a tray or container in order to make cleaning go faster. That way I only have to dust around one thing instead of various small things.
So I thought I’d share with you how I keep things contained and organized around my apartment.
I put my glass canisters in this white tray to keep them corralled so I could clean around the tray instead of moving each canister.
The silverware jars are contained in the galvanized tray. My sponge is contained in the sheep.
Dish washing liquid, hand soap and my vinegar and water sprayer are contained in a Farmers Market galvanized tub.
Then above those things, my kitchen utensils are contained in the galvanized tub hanging on the side of the kitchen cabinet.
I do lots of “containing” in the kitchen!
I keep cereal boxes corralled in this galvanized tub on top of the refrigerator. That way boxes of cereal are not falling over on the counter.
Various types of chips are in the basket. The glasses are contained in a vintage box. Next to that are a few things gathered in a white mesh box on the kitchen wall shelves.
Three of my house plants are contained in the red beverage stand. It keeps them too high up for Ivy to be able to get to. I also keep a bottle sprayer of water I sometimes spray the plants with inside the container.
Also when plants are close together they provide their own little humid environment.
I put a white tray under my lamp on the dining room table. Ivy is always knocking the salt and pepper shakers over.
This way they’re a little safer, and if they get knocked over they probably won’t get broken or swatted off the table.
I like to corral small pieces of decor together so I don’t have to move every single thing when I dust. It just makes it so much easier and things stay tidy.
In the bedroom I keep books contained in this red farmhouse-style basket. Magazines are gathered in the dough bowl.
I like to be able to see all the little quilts I’ve made, but I don’t want to hang them all up. So I folded them and put them all in this basket.
The red cupboard is where I keep my daily medication and other types of things like extra shampoo, etc. that I don’t have room for in the bathroom.
I like to keep things on my bathroom vanity corralled. This little container keeps them out of any water splashed from the sink faucet.
I can readily see what I have without having things scattered about the vanity.
To make your life easier, you might go around your home and see what you can “contain” to make cleaning more efficient and keep things organized.
I just saw Nathan outside. He said the new owners, once they sign on the dotted line, have plans to renovate this place. He thinks they will then double the rent.
He said he doubts most of the people living here now can afford to stay. So I don’t know how to feel about that.
I don’t mind getting rid of the riff-raff and have some things fixed around here, but sure don’t want the rent to skyrocket.
The place is pretty rundown. I’m really surprised a smart investor didn’t buy this property a long time ago and renovate it or tear the complex down and start over, because the land is worth a lot of money due to the location.
Nathan said he’s leaving either way. It’s too much for him to take care of alone and he said he’s working 65 hours a week.
