  1. Sounds you are finding happiness and contentment, even while your ankle is on the mend. Good for you for finding the positive! If you are ever in the need of a blog topic, I am floundering and need advice. Since Covid, I suffer from anxiety – I wonder if I’d benefit from the music that you and other bloggers enjoy, but cds are often not available these days. Do I need different equipment to stream or an ‘ap’? what / how to MP3? Thank you for your informative and friendly posts. Reading blogs is often the best part of my day.

  2. Good evening Brenda,
I love pinto beans, I hope that you share your recipe.
Nachos are one of my favorite things to eat. This new place sounds delicious!
As does the piano music. I love solo violin music, I find it so soothing.
    Have a wonderful weekend!

  3. The food and the company sounds lovely, Brenda…happy for you!! Wish we had decent food here…there is precious little of it…and we are in the SOUTH for crying out loud!! Tonight I made some maduros for the first time (that is plantains)…not as good as our local Peruvian drivein, but good enough I will try again and adapt it a tad. Took it about 2 weeks to ripen enough to use after I got it home however. Fortunately the little Peruvian place has wonderful chicken and a couple other items I can eat…so grateful for that anyway. Tonight I made a gf bowtie salad with some leftover chicken from an earlier date from that little drivein…tasty!! Thanks for sharing the music and food…good choice!!

  4. Love Peder B.Hellend too, as I mentioned to you already. It is SO soothing. Thank you for introducing him to us.
And the food looks delicious! It’s wonderful that Steve shares your tastes in food – so many folks don’t have any interest in something a bit different. The pinto beans will be yummy, I’m sure. What spices do you use, if you don’t mind my asking? Any tomato sauce with them?

    1. No tomato sauce. Bay leaves, cumin, and oregano. Added chicken broth. Will cook all night tonight probably.

  5. The restaurant sounds wonderful. I think I will look into her
cook books. We recently had a Natural Cafe close in our town. It has the best food and GF options for my daughter. And great smoothies. The Landlord raised the rent. Such a great loss for the community. Enjoy your pinto beans. By the way can you share how you make them?

    1. I’m cooking them now. I’ve never used this recipe, so let me see how they turn out before I talk about how I’m making them. If they aren’t any good, then I’ll trash this recipe and look for another one.

  6. Presentation is everything and they nailed it with how nice their food choices are. Nachos are always fun to share with someone so glad Steve helped out with the drive and having company to eat them. Today I put cut up butternut squash, apples, small onion, vegetable broth, some seasonings into my crock pot and will let it simmer for the afternoon for a soup. Then use my immersion blender to mash it up and add a can of coconut milk. I cheated though and bought the cubed butternut squash already peeled as I knew my hands would have difficulty doing that so got wise and paid extra for it already done. But then I heard farms were charging $5 for one squash so this was the same price for 3 lbs already cut up. I have a loaf of Italian bread that was on sale at our local grocery store for 1.49 so will cut that up and use the rest tomorrow for French toast.

    1. Ooh, that sounds good! I’m not nearly as creative as many of you when it comes to food. I’ve never even own an immersion blender.

      1. Nice part of the immersion blender is it’s lightweight and I can use it right in the crock pot. I have heard of people using them for blended coffees but that sounds like too much work for me.

  7. I checked out the menu from Pure Food & Juice, everything looks delicious and reasonable prices! I wish there was one near me!

    1. I’m cooking pinto beans in the crock pot today and maybe tomorrow he’ll go get the enchiladas or something from there that we can have with them. I give him my credit card and tell him that I pay and he is the designated driver.

  8. It’s nice and sunny here in Hamilton Ontario but has not reached your temperatures Brenda, but I do like to see the sun.
It is certainly nice to have a friend like Steve and good that you like the same kind of food. I am a terribly fussy eater, but the pure food and juice bar menu sounds lovely.

    1. We do tend to like the same kinds of foods. He also makes his own granola and drinks a lot of smoothies. Doesn’t have an ounce of extra weight on him.

  9. Wow, everything looks delicious! I’m impressed with the menu selection and how pretty everything looks. The presentation is lovely. I wish they had one of those restaurants by me. Steve is such a nice guy. You really got lucky with all of your neighbors.

  10. Pedar music is so beautiful. I love his music too. Happy Sunday. Have a good week.

    1. And he’s so young and has already composed so much music. Just think of all he’ll compose in his lifetime.
