I’m doing what I do every morning. Seeing to emails, noting what needs to be done online, etc.
Then suddenly across my computer screen flowed the faces of important, rich businessmen, politicians, owners of professional sports teams, movie moguls, etc. And as one face replaced the one before it, I felt tears leaking from my eyes.
I am horrified by those they harmed so callously and needlessly, and for their subsequent lack of exposure and punishment.
I feel like we’ve passed into an alternate universe lately. How could anyone have any idea of the extent to which it existed?
Who could have imagined such depravity?
Perhaps they’re not even an aberration. And that’s a very grim thought.
Naive, I told myself. I’ve been naive. I knew there were evil people walking this earth. But I had no idea what power and richness do to some individuals. How it corrupts them, turning them into monsters.
But I had no idea, no idea, it was of this scale. Of these giant proportions.
Virginia Giuffre’s Book:
Recently, I read Virginia Giuffre’s biography, and I believe it changed me forever.
Some people do terrible, terrible things. They don’t apologize for them. Instead, they huddle together like members of a secret club, protecting one another at all costs.
At all costs.
Let that sink in. I think they would go to any lengths to protect themselves.
Those Who Continue to Protect Them:
And for the members of our government who continue to protect them, I hope they know their souls are tarnished forever. For what are they covering up these horrific crimes? Money? A pat on the head? Fear of retribution?
The only way these people can even attempt to cleanse themselves is to part the dark curtain and let the light shine on the rich and powerful.
Stand up and be counted. For heaven’s sake, do what’s right!
They are aiding and abetting, helping these twisted individuals continue to hide. They’re keeping them from being exposed and punished. And it is so very, very wrong that I can’t even begin to understand it.
How much longer can this pledge of secrecy continue?
RELEASE ALL THE DAMNED FILES. Every last one of them. Every scrap of paper or correspondence. No matter whose name is in it.
You can’t camouflage their atrocities forever. Too many people are involved. Surely, it will spill out and seep over the edges, even if it’s in drips and drops.
Everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, and valued. Every child deserves a legitimate childhood.
I cry for the destruction of their innocence, as I know you do too.
The broken, the crushed, and the damaged, we may not be able to see you and reveal all of your pain. But, as adults, we feel responsible for somehow not having protected you.
We Want to Punish Them:
We want to punish those who hurt you. Banish them from humankind. Disgrace them and cage them.
Evil must be rooted out. There is no possibility of redemption. No atonement for what they’ve done. No punishment is sufficient for the torture they’ve inflicted on the most innocent of us all.
They might as well open the floodgates to all pertinent information.
Because we will not stop calling them out.

Hopefully the arrest of Andrew is the beginning of justice!! Time will tell tho’!!
Who knows really how large that organization was/is. We think Andrew however likely will just maybe be under house arrest.

Our political views are more than our opinions, they are a reflection of our values, our empathy and the way we see humanity. We all must continue to speak up about what has happened and is happening in our country. A heartfelt thank you Brenda and her readers for raising their voices.
I don’t really see this as a political opinion. I consider it empathy for humanity.
This is really an excellent commentary on what’s going on with the Epstein files. I wish more people had your moral clarity. Well done!

Yesterday I read about a new law about child abuse, it was directed at sexual abuse. I think it was Georgia but not sure now. It breaks my heart that it wasn’t already a law and enforced everywhere. It breaks my heart. The more that is publicized, the more I am disgusted. Children are precious and they are our future.

I’ve always believed comedians are the deepest thinkers. Today’s late-night comedians are so on point with their observations on Congress and the current administration. Jimmy Kimmel offered this solution to open up the Epstein files. Since Trump seeks to rename buildings and airports and countries with his name, we should all refer to the Epstein files as the Trump-Epstein files. I honestly believe this would actually work.

Isn’t it just terrible! How can they live with themselves knowing what they have done! Ruined so many young girls lives! (And some boys also). These girls are fighting so hard! So much against them right now. The records, etc need to be released.
The “men” that were with Diddy also need to be revealed! I wonder how many have been with Epstein and Diddy.
I was watching the Monks walk for Peace. Listening to their speeches have helped me stay calmer, able to think more clearly. Not as reactive. Learning to breathe, etc.

As a mother of six, grandmother of twelve and great grandmother of two, my heart breaks for these victims. There can be no excuses for the perpetrators of this evil. I feel they must be excised from our society.

Thank you Brenda for speaking up! You have a voice, and you are using it for good. I don’t understand the women who stand in the way of the truth, who continue to protect these men, no matter their station in life. May justice be served sooner than later….and may the survivors get justice for the crimes that were inflicted upon them when they were just children.

Cannot agree more, Brenda. Thank you for writing this. My granddaughter is in so much emotional pain!! It has impacted her to such an extent already, I worry over the future for her. Even lesser types of abuse such as I had, it will NEVER EVER be gone from me, so long as I have a brain that works…and my doc told me my veins tell I will NEVER be senile. So it is a lifetime sentence. AT THE LEAST these inhuman monsters should be locked up. I personally believe because of the impact on their victims, sexual abuse especially should carry the death sentence. But you are right…these criminals are protected beyond belief. So far all our family has seen in court is TOTAL protection of the Pedo…TOTAL. I HOPE there are courts someplace in this land where justice is served but it is NOT in Washington state I can tell you. (We lived in WA state for a total of almost 30 years.) My advice is anyone who cares a fig for their children never to live there as there is no justice for victims of pedos anyway. NONE. Many years ago I heard Dr. Laura on radio telling us that IF a person ever got justice in a court it was not the norm, and you would be very fortunate. That was over 20 years ago she said that. So I imagine that was meant to be said about the whole country. I still believe the majority of people want there to be justice in our land. My main hope? Justice in the next life. Even tho I totally support those fighting to try to get justice now. It is shocking to see so many involved in this crime.
In China, sexual abuse of children is punishable by death.
Isn’t that a paradox? Here they have murdered so many people over even just our lifetime…yet they do not allow abuse of children? Some things are so strange. My daughter told me tonight that many people are calling for the death penalty. Good idea…but enforcement is a bigger problem than not having decent laws is what we have seen. Applying the laws wrongly if possible. Too many bad people are judges now. OF course…it would be a very dangerous job that could cost one’s life too…
The worst shame for me is the WOMEN who stand in the way of justice for their sisters. Yes. I’m talking about you, Pam Bondi. What a stain on womanhood you are!
I’ve no problem with non-believers, think what you will, but allow me this….there may not be justice in this world, but there will be in the next! And the golden calf you worship here on earth will be unable to save you!

Brenda, Thank You for speaking up! Thank You for your bravery. We need to scream it from the roof tops. There is so much we still don’t know and I feel it’s worse than what we already do know. They wouldn’t be trying to hide it so much if it weren’t. Anyone and everyone that’s done this horrific things to such innocent children needs to be put away from normal society, never to be seen or heard from again. Bless this young women and men that were so awfully abused by such evil people.

Brenda, your post today is right on target. Solidarity with the victims of these horrific crimes that each of these children to adults live with today with no justice is a monumental failure of our society. The nature of this evil being protected by those in our own country who voted and still support the pedophile protector and convicted sex offender in the oval office is just a reflection of the depth of depravity that remains in darkness. Speaking out, speaking love, speaking forgiveness, even if on the high road just does not seem enough while injustice is so rampant and lying protectors so vocal. I pray that justice prevails, that the screams of those afflicted are heard by those who can do SOMETHING to relieve their pain. And in that solidarity, I pray that I can forgive what evildoers are inflicting on the world. It is difficult. 💙 🙏

I don’t know if I have that much forgiveness in my heart. They have traumatized children and young women, and they will never live normally.
I have not posted often over the years and know that this is your blog which gives you the freedom to post what you want. Just wanted you to know that I don’t come here to read and hear about politics. There are so many political views out there and everywhere we turn is another one. Personally, I really wish you would stick to the topics that you do best: reviews of books, streaming programs, decorating, gardening, your cats, etc. While I realize you are free to post anything, I will not read your political posts.
Some things my dear you shouldn’t turn a blind eye to because it makes you feel better thinking the world is all perfect.
What you said is the equivalent to saying a woman belongs in the kitchen.
I too love the decorating and everyday life posts from Brenda but I also think it’s our duty as American people to stand up and do what we can to right a most awful wrong.

In a perfect world this topic would not exist and we’d be ooooohing and aaaahing over Brenda’s furniture placement and the antics of her little fur babies. But she is too compassionate to not spill her heart once in awhile over something like this.
And finally, to Arrowhead – with all respect, this topic is not “politics,” it is basic human decency and justice for the most vulnerable among us – children.

Yes. Maybe even six months ago I would have felt the same as Arrowhead. But with what we are seeing nearly every day now, you can’t ignore the degradation of our society in so many ways.
You, MR. Arrowhead, are indeed fortunate…obviously you have never faced such in your life. But few families there are anymore who have not had some abuse suffered by a family member. This subject is only political because we need courts in the land to take care of this issue…instead of people taking the law into their own hands. I will not be critical of anyone again, who is forced to take the law into their own hands as not too often is real law practiced in court anymore. All of this situation tells how sick our country is. Beyond repair probably, even sadder. You should be grieving…and though obviously untouched by such a tragedy to someone you love, you could be a good human and grieve and support those who are. Brenda’s blog has always been a champion of the ones who have been abused and tortured etc. IF that offends you, shame on you!! Brenda makes the titles pretty explanatory as to what might be contained here…and no one is forced to read them. PS…YOU DO NOT KNOW THE HALF…not even the half
Abuse by someone already convicted of felons is not political. It is the law which is being selective. Can’t have it both ways. You Arrowhead are the example of talking out of both sides of your mouth.
Some things transcend politics. I greatly admire Brenda for using her platform for good. Silence is how these evil people got away with these depraved acts.
