This week in Sunday Snippets 1.4.26…
We’re now into a whole new year. Did you make resolutions or choose a word for this year? I did neither. Guess I’m just going to fly by the seat of my pants. I like to rely on instinct.

I didn’t do anything to celebrate New Year’s Eve. Actually, I never do. I do what I always do, follow my daily routine. Watch the cats play, work on this blog, and read.
Rhonda and I went to breakfast yesterday. We’re a fan of all-day breakfast restaurants. Then she helped me figure out how to steady my Christmas tree, which I had propped up in the bucket with dish towels around it.
She didn’t think that was steady enough. I’ve looked and looked for the base of that tabletop tree. Something must have happened to it during the move here.
So we stopped at Dollar Tree on the way home yesterday and got floral foam and little stones. Now Rhonda has the tree affixed where I don’t think I’ll have any more trouble with it shifting in the bucket.
She added another strand of lights because some of the lights on the tree weren’t working anymore. I will decorate the tree this week for winter. Guess I’m going to have a year-round tree. I’ll see how it goes anyway.
What I’m Watching: Homeland
I’m still watching Homeland for the second time. It has 8 seasons. Claire Danes does an excellent job of playing a CIA agent who has bipolar disorder. When she’s taking her medication, she is golden. But when she doesn’t, all hell breaks loose.

What It’s About
Marine Sgt. Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis) returns home following eight years in captivity. CIA agent Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) thinks he has turned and is connected to a terror plot to be carried out on American soil. She draws him into a dangerous cat-and-mouse game that imperils Americaโs national security.
Later, Carrie is promoted and returns to the front lines overseas. She is assigned to one of the CIAโs most volatile and dangerous stations in the Middle East. And at the heart of the battle in the war on terror.
Years later, after being disillusioned and placing herself in a self-imposed exile in Berlin, Carrie becomes estranged from the CIA. She eventually returns to the States to work for a foundation that provides aid to Muslims living in America.
What I’m Reading: Nobody’s Girl

What It’s About
The memoir, Nobody’s Girl, was published posthumously by Virginia Roberts Guiffre in October 2025. is about one of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell’s victims. As a child, Virginia was sexually molested.
In April 2025, Giuffre took her own life. She left behind a memoir written in the years before her death, stating unequivocally that she wanted it published.
Nobodyโs Girl is an astonishing affirmation of Giuffreโs unshakable will. First, to claw her way out of victimhood, and then to shine light on wrongdoing and fight for a safer, fairer world. This book is a remarkable narrative of fortitude in the face of depravity and despair.

Rhonda read this book before I did. She said that, after reading it, she will never be the same again. I doubt I will either.
I hope you enjoyed this week’s Sunday Snippets for the week of 1.4.26.

Happy New Year Brenda and everyone! I didnโt actually make a New Yearโs resolution either this year, although I did spend it with family and fireworks. It was just fun being together.
I ordered Virginia’s book. I read quite a few on this subject in hopes of finding ways to help my daughter in her fight for her children. SO FAR??? NO ONE CARES in places of authority. She is now going to a different court, of appeals. Supposed to be a panel of 3 people on it plus most are women presently who are on this court. A smidge of hope. Seems this problem would be number one of concern because abuse is something one never completely “gets over”. And aren’t there enough wounded people in our society already??
You would think. Men, however, have always ruled the world for the most part.
My daughter says exactly that too…how it is the fault of men primarily. However, some women have been ZERO help too, in this battle…flea headed things…could write a book about one dimwit earlier on in the trials…
Hello Brenda
Happy New Year! I donโt make resolutions anymore either. I did have the traditional New Yearโs meal thanks to a friendโs invite for dinner. That was nice.
Iโm very much interested in reading the book โNobodyโs Girlโ.
Hopefully I can find it somewhere to purchase. Iโd just like for the truth to finally come out with all that Epstein mess.
Yeah, me too. It seems like all of it is going to come out at times. But I don’t think we’ll ever know the whole truth.
I usually make resolutions, but this year a word of the year stood out for me, which is resilience. I have a very difficult husband at times and I just need to not let it bother me, along with the worldly nonsense going on.
That’s a good one, one we all need to focus on!
I did not make any resolutions. I too will try to fly by the seat of my pants. I stayed at home with my warm quilt and watched TV or read on New Years Eve. there were over 250 thousand people in Nashville. I just don’t enjoy that.
I hope you’ll send pictures of your year round tree as you change it up. I have a small one in a barrel that I love that I may consider doing the same with. I’ll see how yours goes.
Thanks for sharing.
I’ll show it in a day or so.
