The Love Of Home Files #8
Today in my series The Love Of Home Files #8…
A Traditional Christmas Living Room:
This is one of those traditional rooms reminiscent of Christmases past. With plaid, a warm fire, and a dried orange swag with greenery attached to the mantel.
Note the cute reindeer in the basket on top of the trunk.
Cloches Galore:
This person obviously owns a lot of cloches, and they are put to good use during the holidays. This is a very dazzling Christmas-inspired display.
Incorporating House Plants Into Christmas Decor:
This decorator/gardener loves her house plants. Plus she knows how to blend them into her Christmas decor seamlessly.
Modern Meets Boho:
A grouping of various kinds of holiday trees lined up and looking pretty. Some are flashy; some are simple.
All are beautiful.
Cozy Night Time Kitchen:
This kitchen makes me feel warm and cozy inside.
It has all the right stuff. Soft lighting from a lamp instead of overhead light.
A pretty painting leaning against the back splash. A cake stand with a gingerbread house situated on top.
And a plant, which brings in the essence of nature. This one is a bulb that is now flowering.
This couple could not have made their kitchen cozier if they tried. It is perfect.
How To Make An All Natural Centerpiece:
If you have been wondering how to make a completely natural centerpiece, this tutorial will show you how.
How To Make A Sock Snowman:
You might be relieved to know that this cute snowman DIY does not involve any sewing!
And he/she is cute as a button.
How To Change Shiny Gold To Antique Brass:
This DIY will absolutely elevate cheap gold decor and ornaments to vintage antique greatness.
66 Classic Christmas Buffet Ideas:
I’ve always thought buffet style dining was more sensible than trying to put all the food on the table.
Especially on holidays when there are typically more people dining.
Grandma’s Best Christmas Candy:
I adore peanut brittle. But my teeth aren’t too crazy about them. So I rarely indulge.
In my memory, peanut brittle always made an entrance at Christmastime.
Hot Chocolate Mix:
Would it be safe to say that most everyone loves hot chocolate?
Even better would be a little Bailey’s Irish Cream added to the mug for the adults.
I haven’t had that combo in ages! Must be well over 30 years.
Maybe I’ll get the neighbors together and we’ll have hot chocolate with a dollop of Bailey’s.
This place is like a ghost town after 5 p.m. So it might have to be an afternoon shindig.
Christmas Jam:
This jam is one of those dump-and-go recipes.
It’s also known as Amish Christmas jam. It’s typically made with fresh fruit such as strawberries, cranberries, brown sugar, and spices.
I like the little sock snowman, and the kitchen does look nice… very cozy and inviting. I agree, I think buffet style serving works very well. I’ve done it both ways, and the buffet style just leaves so much more room on the table. I feel like I can focus on the people at the table without the distraction of food crowded all over the table. And you don’t have to worry about everybody trying to pass the food while they’re trying to eat. I think the mason jars of hot chocolate are the perfect gift for neighbors and coworkers. And I LOVE your idea of getting together with your neighbors to enjoy some hot chocolate together.
I love that kitchen with the black cabinets – very cozy.
Ooh, I haven’t had Baileys in hot chocolate in years either. That sounds like a wonderful holiday indulgence! With whipped cream on top, of course. 🙂
I love that first picture. It inspired me to try finding some Christmas blog hops or tours again and I was pleasantly surprised to see that I was wrong a few days ago – Jennifer Rizzo is doing her Holiday Housewalk this year. It started a few days ago so I’m going to go catch up!
A beautiful post! I really, really love that kitchen too! And now I want hot chocolate! Lol!
Mary
This time of yr I like to be home at night snuggled in a cozy blanket on my couch watching a hallmark movie! With my Christmas tree lights on! Lol Or baking something yummy to eat!
Me too, J. That sounds like a perfect evening!
Such beautiful decorations for Christmas! I especially like the traditional living room with chairs flanking the fireplace, the not overdone decorations on the mantel, the plaid throw blankets and the red and green pillows. Coziness 101! I also love the beautiful garland on the staircase, it is stunning. I walked to the supermarket early this morning before it started raining and as I was wheeling my cart down a shortcut through the liquor department to the meat department, I saw a display of Chocolate Bailey’s Irish Cream! I wanted to grab a bottle but already had a pretty full cart and can only lug so much weight the half mile walk back home, so I passed it up. The forecast is for better weather tomorrow so I’ll head back and pick up a bottle, the perfect addition to a cup of coffee or a slow sip out of a festive glass in the evening. I haven’t had Bailey’s in years, but I’m not going to pass up chocolate Bailey’s!
Beautiful pictures and inspiration. I would love to have some fresh greens with orange slices, cranberries etc. Thanks for the laugh about your afternoon soirée. I am right with you on that. My son in law laughs at me because I want to be home before dark. My husband is getting the same way even though he tells me our car has lights and windshield wipers! Enjoy your day!
